Abstract

252,954. Lake, S. Sept. 22, 1925. Moulds; strickles.-A hand tool 16, Fig. 8, is used as a strickle in surfacing the inner faces of hollow built-up concrete slabs. Projecting pegs 17 on the tool run in recesses in wooden battens in the slab. To cast the upper side of the slab after completing the lower side, hollow cores 33, Fig. 9, are supported on hinged let-down cam members 30, or on packing strips sliding in slots in the members 1. The cores comprise base members 32, Fig. 12, having stamped members 33 attached thereto so as to leave intervening depressions 34 which form ribs on the lower side of the concrete facing. In a modified core two sets of depressions are provided with cross one another at right-angles. Fig. 17 shows a modified core made of dished sheet metal plates 40 seamed on to sheet-metal base plates 39 having metal ducts 43 welded thereonto for conveying steam to the hollow interiors through the nozzles 44.
