Description

Supa Bowl Highchair D esor i Pt iOfl &ipa Bow lisa multi purpose children's high chair with a unique bowl shaped tray. It is a high chair with a difference because it has a lar bowl shaped tray which is a self-contained feeding area and contains 4 separate interchanable food bow Is Supa Bowl eliminates the need for additional bowls and plates. The self-contained feeding tray limits spilla and food lo The compartments can be removed for washing, microwaving and preparing food before they are placed back into the bowl shaped tray. They can be used to store different foods separately. Lids are provided for each of the inner 4 bowls for storage, and also a lid is provided for the larger bowl so the tray can be converted back to a flat tray if required.
Sipa Bowl is not just a hiichair but a 9iperior way to feed your baby and promotes self-feeding a varied diet through the exploration of foods. It is the aim of 9.Jpa Bowl to make it eSer for children to explore and accept a variety of foods. Feeding throui exploration is important as research aiggests that children who are allowed to explore freely with foods are more likely to accept food without refusal. While exploring they can learn a lot about the characteristics of lood. Then when they become comfortable with the textures of different foods in their hands they are more likely to be able to tolerate them in their mouth.
Kathy Brodie desiqied Early Years training courses to help nurseries improve practice.
In her book Observation, Assessment and Planning in the Early Years', the aiggests children need to experience the sensation of touch." Also the states that: "How do you know what prickly means if you've never felt it7 She says it is the reonsibility of staff to qve children these experiences, in a safe, controlled environment.
&ipa Bowl can also be used for exploratory play. Once compartments are removed, the larger bowl remains and can be used for other activities The Treaaire Basket is a unique approach to play in young children. "It is where the adult offers a seated baby (who cannot yet move independently) a range of natural, household and recycled objects, contained in a rigid low-sided round basket, for exploration and interest." (Goldschmiede and bckson 1994). Nurseries and practitioners could benefit from &ipa Bowl when they use this exploratory kind of play, in a safe controlled environment.
