Clearing-apparatus.-In winding-frames, clearing-frames, &c. employing ball-drag devices b, Fig. 1, a clearer or slub-catcher h or more than one is mounted on the beam a<1> with its back vertical between the cop or cops being unwound and the ball-drag in such a manner that the yarn is capable of vibrating in and out against it. The clearer may be in the form of one or more rollers h<2>. Fig. 6. The brush may be constituted by wire card or plush, or by bristles or projecting pins or spikes. A cover may be provided in the clearer and may be of such a character that only part of the clearer may, when desired, be exposed for use.
