Abstract

Animal excrement picking up device comprising a set of tongs with a spring levered handle, where a grip assembly that extends from each handle, and each grip assembly is shaped as an inverted v. During use the levered handle is squeezed resulting in the opening of the grips, the device is placed over the waste that has been covered e.g. with a bag or tissue, and upon releasing the handle the grips come together and encapsulate the waste, allowing the user to dispose of the waste in a bin. Preferably the grips are formed from two metal sticks B where one end of the sticks is inserted into apertures in one of the levered handles, and the opposing ends of the sticks have a piece of material A attached, joining the sticks together. In use, the sticks are inserted into the outer apertures of the levered handle, where the sticks form an inverted v shape, and the material between the sticks is stretched. When not in use, the sticks can be inserted into the middle apertures (Fig 9). The sticks may be made from various lengths.

Description

DESCRIPTION
My device is made out of two parts. The first one is made out of two detachable arms (fig 1) with a torsion spring (fig 2) in between them. Pressing the arms on one side (fig 3a), makes them open on the other (fig 3b) When the pressure is released, the torsion spring allows it to go back to their primary position (fig 4a, fig 4b) in each of the arms four holes have been made with a dimension of 4mm and depth of 10mm. Two metal sticks are inserted into two outer openings on each side. Those openings are made in an angle which would allow the inserted metal stick to create a letter V' (fig 5). The metal sticks could have different length in each device, dependant on the size of the waste.
The second part of my device is the material used on the arms -polyester (the type which is used in umbrellas) or any elastic material. The material is 30mm wide, the length could be different, depends on the size of the device and the length of the metal sticks. The material is attached at the end of the sticks (fig 6a) while the other end is inserted into the openings (fig 6b) Apart from the described detachable openings in each of the arms, two parallel openings have been made with dimension of 4mm, they run throughout the whole length of the device (fig7). Those openings are made to store the metal stick while they're not in use (fig 8). This causes a significant reduction of the size of my device as the two metal sticks are in straight line parallel to each other (fig 10 & 11).
How to use my device: The first step is to cover the waste with a plastic bag, tissue etc. The next step is to take out the metal sticks from the middle openings of my device where they are kept while not in use and to insert them in the outer openings to create a letter V'. The last step is to put the device over the I'-. waste covered with a plastic bag or tissue pick it up and dispose the waste in a bin.
