Massage.-A device for applying liquid or plastic lotions, cosmetics, perfumes, and the like to the face or hands comprises a tubular container with an outlet at one end of substantially the same size as the cross-sectional area of the tube, a pervious closure being located within the mouth of the outlet, which together with the closure is cut or formed obliquely to the length of the container. The closure may comprise a pad, a plunger with capillary passages, or a bundle of hairs or tubes in brush form. As shown in Fig. 1, an absorbent pad 4 which may be covered with an outer layer of chamois leather and an inner layer of muslin, is fitted to project slightly from the inclined end of a container 1 provided with a screw cap 2. The container may be made in two or more lengths or in two lengths connected by an intermediate plug to form two containers each provided with a pad. It may be fitted with a rubber tube to hold the liquid, with means actuated by an external lever for expelling the contents. It may be combined with a fountain-pen, pencil, or rubber. Fig. 3 shows a perfume stick comprising a container 1 fitted with a glass tube 15 containing perfume which can be conducted to a surface on pressure being applied to the inclined end of a spring-pressed plunger 12. The inclined end may be constituted by a precious stone mounted within the plunger. In the construction shown in Fig. 13 the plunger 12 carrying a precious stone 27 is provided with a double spring-pressed valve 25, 35 controlling the supply of liquid past capillary passages between the plunger and the surrounding casing. More than two valves arranged tandem fashion and with corresponding seatings may be employed. Fig. 4 shows a construction comprising a stick 23 of shaving soap, lip salve, pomade, or other cosmetic which is secured within a tube 12 and pressed forward by a spring 37. The tube is connected to a spring-pressed valve 25 controlling a supply of solvent from a tube within the container 1. In the perfume stick shown in Fig. 10, the container 1 is provided with a rotatablymounted closure 7 adapted by rotation to actuate a valve 13 and control the supply of liquid through an aperture 34. According to the first Provisional Specification the container may have the end holding the pad bent at right-angles to the length of the container. In another construction the pad may have a wheel associated therewith for delivery of liquid to the surface under treatment.
