Water-paints.-A binding material for pigments to be applied on any backgrounds comprises linseed oil, amber-lacquer, soft soap, glycerine. shellac, glue, flour, and water in specified proportions. In a preferred method of preparation 1000 grams of glue are boiled in 3300 grams of water, and about one fifth of the mixture or solution is mixed with 1000 grams of flour. A third mixture of 100 grams of linseed oil, 26 grams of amber liquor, 150 grams of glycerine, and 26 grams of soft soap is prepared, and the three mixtures are stirred together. Finally 300 gram,s of dissolved shellac are added. Amber laquer is made by heating to 300‹ C. a mixture of resin, machine, oil, china wood oil, lime and manganic oxide, and diluting the product with turpentine oil.
