Abstract
A collapsible concertina style shelter that has no requirement to be fixed to a base or be secured by fixings to the ground and which may be quickly and easily assembled prior to use and be easily dismantleable, compactable and readily carryable before and after use and be provided to house and protect motor vehicles, caravans and or provide a multitude of alternate uses for varying purposes. The shelter will preferably comprise of a plurality of rods, tubes or pipes as well as couplings, joints and/or connectors with a provision of two or more anchoring devices. The outer surface will preferably be constructed from a flexible sheet material. The structure may also preferably be constructed from two equal dome halves which when joined, form a complete structure.
Description
COLLAPSIBLE CONCERTINA STYLE SHELTER
(1) This invention relates to a portable concertina style shelter.
(2) Loose covers and fitted covers are known and are readily available to protect motor vehicles and caravans against adverse weather and sun damage however persistent use of such covers can cause minor damage to paintwork especially when fitting such covers to vehicles during or after rain.
(3) Garages for housing motor vehicles are common and may be permanent, semi permanent and also of modular construction and are typically of rigid construction.
(4) Concertina type ganging for motor cycles is known and such are produced to provide a open fronted half dome shaped shelter which is secured to a base or a base is constructed onto which the assembled structure is secured.
(5) Shelters such as garden sheds are common and may be free standing and secured down by the weight of the building. Alternatively they may be connected to an adjacent building, the latter bcing referred to as lean to and such buildings provide protection for various products.
(6) The present invention seeks to provide a collapsible concertina style shelter that has no requirement for a base to be constructed or to be fixed to a base or be secured by fixings to the ground and which may be quickly and easily assembled prior to use :.: * and be easily dismantle able, compact able and readily carry able before and after use * : *4 and be provided to house and protect motor vehicles, caravans and or provide a multitude of alternate use for varying purpose.
7 (7) According to the present invention there is provided a collapsible concertina style : shelter which comprises of a plurality of rods tubs or pipes each being provided with couplings, joints and or connectors and the provision of two or more anchoring : ... devices incorporating articulated inset and or projecting sockets and or spigots * : which may receive and secure said rods, tube or pipes thus allowing for said rod * ** tubes or pipes to be assembled outwardly of said anchoring devices in a manner that allows for the assembly of a dome shaped shelter which when assembled form a rigid yet collapsible concertina style shelter structure which may be provided with a flexible sheet material covering and that said anchoring devices be provided with one or more extendible plates or channels which may at one end connect to said anchoring device (s) by way of a pivoting joint and the opposite end may terminate in the shape of a paddle which may be rigid, semi rigid or flexible and that said anchoring device(s) be produced as a whole device which may be placed one either side, of a proposed shelter prior to assembly of the dome shape shelter or each anchor device may be made in two interacting halves allowing for one pair of halves to be positioned one either side of the proposed shelter prior to assembly of a structure to enable a half of a dome to be assembled and both assembly's being quickly and easily dismantle able compact able, baggpd and or tied and made readily carry able after use.
(8) It is preferred that said rods, tubes or pipes be produced from carbon fibre to provide a light weight product however they may be produced from a light weight aluminium or plastic, alternatively steel may be used.
(9) It is preferred that the extendible plates or channels that connect to the pole anchoring device(s) are attached by way of a pivoting joint and they may terminate in a paddle shape however the plates or channels could be connected to the pole anchoring device by way of a fixed joint and there could be a pivoting joint at the opposite end leading to a fUrther plate or channel which may terminate in a paddle shape or flattened section.
(10) It is preferred that the flexible sheet material cover be produced from clear PVC.
(11) In order that the invention may be more readily understood embodiments thereof will now be described,by way of example only, reference being made to the accompanying drawings, wherein (12) Figure 1 shows a side view of the dome shape shelter with a clear PVC covering and a motor vehicle visibly parked under cover.
(13) Figure 2 shows a plan view of dome shape shelter.
:;: .4 (14) Figure 3 shows a side view of a half dome shelter set against a wall or the wall of a building.
7 (15) Figure 4 shows a pole anchoring device.
(16) Figure 5 shows a dome shape shelter in collapsed open state and shows the : ... extendible plates or channels placed at an angle so as the tyres of the parked vehicle * : * trap and weight down the plates and by doing so restrict lifting of the shelter when in use. - (17) With reference to figure 1 members 9 to 15 are rods, tubes or pipes used for assembly of a side wall of a typical dome shape shelter. Members 2 to8 are couplings, joints or connectors. Member 1 is a side elevation of a pole anchoring device.
(18) Figure 2 shows members 4 to 13 and members 22 to 25 which are couplings, joints or connectors. Members 14, 15, 16 and 17 are extendible plates or channels.
Members 18, 19,20 and 21 are the tyres of a typical motor vehicle weighting down the extendible plates or channels. Members 22 to 25 are couplings joints or connectors. Members 1 and 2 show plan view of pole anchoring devices.
(19) Figure 3 members 2 to 5 are couplings, joints or connectors. Member 6 is a side view of an extendible plate or channel. Member 7 is a side view of a pole anchoring device. Member 1 indicates a wall or wall of a property or building.
(20) Figure 4 shows a pole anchoring device with extendible plates or channels members 9 and 10 set in a continuous straight line and in a packable, carry able position. Members 2 and 3 show an example of the position of the extendible plates during use. Members 4 and 5 are paddle shaped end sections of extendible plates or channels. Member 1 is a hub section of a pole anchoring device with projecting members 8 which are articulated sockets or spigots (21) Possible examples of application in accordance with the invention are: Temporary home garaging.
Garaging of motor vehicle at work or office.
Temporary ganging whilst holidaying at leisure parks, caravan parks etc. Caravan storage.
Storage of gardening equipment Multi purpose storage for both internal and external uses. * *.* *
