Securing. - Metallic letters or other characters for building up loose letter &c. signs, price tickets &c. are attached to a pierceable support, such as a cork &c. sheet, by pins &c. of small diameter secured to the letters by soldering, by frictional grip or like means. The pin a, Fig. 1<a> is soldered to the letter A and the point is then bent at right angles as shown. Two or more pins a, Fig. 3, of unequal length may be provided to facilitate the spacing and alignment of the letters on the support, the letter being first positioned by means of the longest pin and then all the pins are pushed into the support. The pin a, Fig. 4a, is passed through a perforation in the letter A and secured by soldering. A hole may be pierced in the letter A, Fig. 7, by the pin a which is then broken off, pushed further in and secured by burring over the edges of the depression p, Fig. 7<c>. Conical headed pins may be used and the pins may be secured to the feet of the letters to attach the letters in a vertical position to the support. Specifications 226,860, [Class 3 (ii).
