Abstract
The control of an gas fire that has been integrated with a wood/coal burning stove, e.g. to convert the wood/coal burning stove into a gas fuelled stove, where one or more of the controls e.g. air controllers, door handles 1, 3, 4, 6, 10, 13, 14, / aesthetic features e.g. door hinges (11, fig 2), of the wood/coal burning stove is connected to the control means that of the gas fire, where the control on the gas fire is a slide control mechanism. The slide control mechanism of the gas fire is connected to a control or aesthetic feature of the wood / coal burning stove, via one or more linkages. The linkages may turn rotation or linear movement of the stoves controls or aesthetic features into linear motion to move the slide control mechanism of the gas fire. Alternatively the gas fire may be control by knob or lever 12 that is not an integral part of the wood/coal burning stove that is added retrospectively.

A STANDARD STOVE WHICH NORMALLY
BURNS FOSSIL FUELS HAS A NUMBER OF
MECHANISMS WHICH CAN BE OPERATED
BY THE USER TO CONTROL IT. THESE
NORMALLY BECOME AESTHETIC
ELEMENTS WHEN THE STOVES ARE
CONVERTED TO BE SUITABLE TO BURN
GAS AS A FUEL. SUCH STOVES ARE
CONVERTED INTO GAS BURNING STOVES
BY INTRODUCING SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED
GAS FIRES WHICH ARE ENCLOSED WITHIN
THE STOVE BODY. r
WHEN COMBINING A STOVE WITH A GAS
FIRE, IT IS NORMAL FOR THE GAS FIRE
CONTROLS TO BE EITHER MANUAL WITH
THE CONTROL KNOB/LEVER FIXED TO THE
GAS BURNER TRAY OR ELECTRONICALLY
REMOTE CONTROLLED.
THE MANUAL CONTROL IS NORMALLY
LOCATED AT A LOW LEVEL AND DIFFICULT
TO OPERATE AND THE REMOTE CONTROL
SOLUTION IS NORMALLY VERY EXPENSIVE.
IN THE STANDARD GAS FIRE MARKET
WHERE INSET FIRES ARE INSTALLED IN
FIREPLACE SUITES OR SIMILAR THERE ARE
NORMALLY FOUR TYPES OF CONTROL
SYSTEMS, MANUAL, ELECTRONIC REMOTE, SLIDE AND PUSH BUTTON. THE SLIDE
CONTROL HAS BECOME THE PREFERRED
CONTROL OPTION FOR THESE TYPES OF
FIRES. THERE IS ALSO A GROWING
ARGUMENT THAT THE SLIDE CONTROL IS
EASIER FOR THE ELDERLY AND THE
ENERGY CONSCIOUS TO CONTROL THEIR
FIRES AND HENCE ENERGY USAGE THAN A
STANDARD MANUALLY OR REMOTE
CONTROLLED FIRE.
THEREFORE THIS INVENTION INTRODUCES
SLIDE CONTROL TO THE COMBINATION OF
