251,842. Arcus, J. S., and Beaubien, R. E. Sept. 23, 1925. Tickets, issuing.-In a machine for issuing strip tickets of varying lengths, a number of keys 1 - - 5 are provided and the actuation of a selected key feeds out of the machine a corresponding length of ticket, and cuts it off, and the parts are thereupon returned automatically to initial position. Full-stroke and interlocking devices, and ticket counters are provided. The bars of the keys 1 - - 5 are adapted to engage a feed lever 18 pivoted at a point 50 so that the angular movement of the lever depends upon the key depressed. A link 19 connects the lever with a toothed cam-sector 20 meshing with a pinion 21 on a spindle carrying a pawl which engages ratchet teeth on a flange of a feeding reel 11. Pins on the feeding reel engage perforations in the ticket strip, and the arrangement of the toothed members 20, 21 is such that after the end of the ticket has been pushed under the spring-pressed outlet flap 8, the speed of delivery of the ticket is increased. The reel 11 is locked until a key is actuated by a pin 25, Fig. 8, on the sector 20 engaging a cam-shaped flange upon it, and it is locked during the cutting operation by a sliding bolt 63 actuated by the cutter-operating lever 32. Full-stroke mechanism and key locks. Each key bar has an extension 82 provided with rack teeth which co-operate with a pivoted spring- pressed detent 28, Fig. 12, to ensure that the keys shall make full strokes in each direction. The keys are locked during the cutting operation by a spring-pressed latch 48 which engages the detent 28, and is actuated by a shaft 45. An arm 44, Fig. 7, on this shaft is rocked by a toe 43 on the cutter carrier 39. A crowding lock comprising endwise sliding bolts 16 is provided to prevent the simultaneous actuation of two or more keys. Tickets, cutting-off. - The cutter actuating lever 32 is pivoted at 50 and has a pivoted extension 58 which is restrained by a spring 60. The parts 32, 58 are engaged by pins on the bars of the keys 1 - - 5. and the movement is transmitted by a link 33, Fig. 8, to a two-armed lever 55 which winds up two springs 40, 56. The spring 40 tends to rock a shaft 41 upon which the carrier 39 for the knife 116 is mounted. The cairier is locked by a latch 37 until the end of the strip feeding movement, when the lever 32 rocks an arm 34, and releases the latch through a link 36. The cutter then snaps over under the action of the spring 40. The cutter lever 32 is locked, by a latch 51 until the feed lever 18 has been retracted by its spring 49, when the spring 56 becomes operative and retracts the cutter lever and the cutter. The return of the cutter lever is assisted by the spring 60, and its final movement helps to return the keys 1 - - 5. The link 58 is bent and arranged to slide on the base of the machine to prevent sagging. Registering number of tickets. - Separate counters 74 are arranged to be actuated by the bars 82 of the keys 1 - - 5, and a grand totar counter 72 is driven by a pinion 70, Fig. 7, engaging with teeth 71 formed in the plate 11 of the feeding reel.
