Abstract

A method to change the outlook and appearance of faucets, taps and other accessories in the kitchen and bathroom by the provision of a recess in the body of the faucet, tap or other accessory wherein a decorative sleeve or insert can be inserted. The sleeve or insert may be made from a flexible material such as silicone and be of various colours, surface designs and textures. The method may also be applied to towel holders, brush holders, toilet roll holders and mirror surrounds for coordination or contrast.

Description

FAUCET APPEARANCE
Traditional bathroom and kitchen faucets and accessories are fixed in nature in thai they cannot change their appearancc or outlook. To change thc outlook of such faucets requires physical removal of the faucet and replacement with another unit. This is costly, time consuming and requiring plumbing skills.
The present invention seeks to allow the user to change the outlook of the bathroom faucets, mixers and accessories and kitchen faucets, mixers and accessories quickly, easily and with minimum cost outlay.
The faucets are provided with one or more recess along the body of the faucet onto which one or more sleeve or insert can be fitted quickly and easily. Such sleeve / insert can be made from flexible material such as silicone.
The sleeve/ insert can be made of a variety of colours, textures shapes and design and can change the outlook of the faucet. Once the sleeve/insert is fitted it gives a uniform appearance to the faucet.
The mixer unit can also be provided with one or more recess along the body of the mixer unit onto which one or more sleeve or insert can be fitted quickly and easily.
With accessories such as towel holders, brush holder, toilet roll holders, mirror surrounds they are similarly provided with a recess on the body of the accessory such that a sleeve /insert can be attached to the recess and can co-ordinate or contrast with the faucet.
The base of the faucets are also provided with a recess into which a sleeve /insert can be fitted. The mixer units can be also be provided with a recess on the top flat surface so that an insert can be fitted on the tap surface. Such insert can be made of flexible material such as silicone or of resin which can be moulded into shape.
The invention will now be described by reference to the figures.
Fig 1 shows faucet with single tap and tap mixer unit without the sleeve Fig 2 shows faucet with single tap and tap mixer unit with the sleeve Fig 3 shows sleeve and 0 -ring cover.
Figure 1 shows two types of taps namely a single tap and faucet seated in an 0-ring and a faucet with hold and cold mixer taps. The body of the taps and the faucet itself have a recess as well as the 0 ring into which the faucet sits.
Figure 2 shows the taps and the faucets with slccvc / insert fitted into the recess. A similar insert can be fitted into the 0 ring thereby providing a matching base.
Figure 3 shows the outlet 0 ring, the sleeve/insert for the 0 ring and the sleeve / insert for the tap units. These sleeves /insert can be made from silicone or other flexible material which allows the sleeve / insert to be removed easily. Thc surface design of thc sleeve /inscrt can be changed and the design show is by way of illustration only. Similarly the sleeve /insert can be made in any colour or colour combination.
In the same manner all bathroom and kitchen accessories such as towel holders, brush holder, toilet roll holders, mirror surrounds and the like can be provided with a recess on the body of the accessory and sleeves! insert can be into the recess to allow the accessory to be co-ordinated with the rest of the bathroom as desired by the user.

A method of changing the outlook of bathroom, kitchen faucets, mixers and accessories whereby the faucet, mixer and accessory is provided with a recess on the body or surface of the faucet, mixer and accessory which is capable of reversibly receiving one or more sleeve or insert.
  2. 2. Method as claimed in claim I wherein the sleeve and/or insert is made of flexible material such as silicone.
  3. 3. Sleeve and/or insert as claimed in claim 2 wherein the sleeve and or insert can be various colours, have various surface designs and textures.
