Abstract
The invention relates to a suitcase which transforms from a suitcase into a sun lounger or camp type bed used for beach holidays, camping, music festivals and airport delays. The suitcase comprises two shell bodies 1 hinged together and fastenable in a closed configuration using a zip or other closure mechanism. The shells host hinged extendable legs 5 which are stowed flat inside each shell; an extendable headrest 4 and a retractable pull handle 3 having a material insert such that the handle may act as a footrest. The suitcase includes two wheels 6. The suitcase is provided with a fully removable inner lining (2, figure B), capable of containing suitcase contents independently. To convert the suitcase into a bed/lounger the suitcase is opened fully, the inner lining (2) removed and the legs 5 extended. The suitcase is then overturned onto the supportive legs 5 and the pull handle 3 and the headrest 4 extended from the suitcase shells. The upper surface of the arrangement shown in figure (G) is then ready for use as a bed/lounger.
Description
-DESCRIPTION-
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
When we enjoy camping holidays or beach holidays in the sun, we require many goods to make the most of our travels. We can purchase many products for the purpose.
A suitcase is essential for all of our travels whether home, or abroad.
When camping, it is also beneficial to have a camp bed to ensure a warm and dry sleep. A camp bed would also be appreciated by Festivals goers resting after a busy day.
Holidaying abroad can often mean long delays at the Airport. A camp bed would be welcomed at this time, ensuring rest prior to an onward journey.
Taking a camp bed in the suitcase is not feasible as it would restrict the storage capacity within the suitcase and would also add additional weight to the suitcase.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The invention relates to a suitcase which is designed to convert into a camp type bed solving the issues detailed.
There is no necessity for additional weight in the suitcase or loss of storage space capacity.
The suitcase provides full capacity for the contents of a suitcase.
The invention provides a filly detachable inner lining independent of the outer shell of the suitcase. The detachable inner lining is capable of containing the contents of the suitcase, intact within the lining, separate from the suitcase.
The internal suitcase shell hosts hinged extendable legs which are stowed flat inside the suitcase shell.
There is a retractable pull handle (with a material insert forming a footrest, when extended) and a retractable headrest within the suitcase shell.
The suitcase presents on two wheels, one on each side of the suitcase.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
The present invention will be more apparent from the following description of the -preferred embodiments thereof in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.
FIGURE A -Is a perspective view of a closed suitcase, (closed by the means of a zip or other closing mechanism) with legs, headrest and pull handle retraéted and lining attached.
FIGURE B -Is a side view of an open suitcase with the pull handle and headrest retracted within. The detachable inner lining attached to one side of the suitcase shell, with the hinged legs not yet extended.
FIGURE C -Is a perspective view of the fully open suitcase with the inner lining removed.
FIGURE P -Is a perspective view of the fully open suitcase with the inner lining removed and the hinged legs extended. The pull handle and headrest remain within the suitcase shell. Prior to being turned Over FIGURE B -Is the side view of the suitcase turned over and supported by the extended legs. The pull handle and headrest, not yet extended.
FIGURE F -Is the side view of the suitcase lounger overturned and supported by the extended legs. The pull handle (providing a foot rest) and the head rest fully extended, providing a camp bed.
FIGURE G -Is the side view of the detachable lining, fully removed by means of zip or other fastening mechanism from the inner suitcase shell.
DETAILED DESRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Embodiment of the present invention will now be described by the way of example only, with the reference to the accompanying drawings, KEY -Pertaining to said drawings 1. SUITCASE SHELL 2. DETACHABLE INNER LINING 3. EXTENDING PULL HANDLE (with material insert) 4. EXTENDING HEADREST 5. HINGED LEG 6. WHEEL 7. OPENING-by means of zip or other fastening (to allow head rest to be extended from the.body of the suitcase) 8. ZIP (or other fastening mechanism) Owing to the invention it is possible to provide a suitcase that can be easily used as a camp bed or sun lounge, when the hinged legs (5), pUll handle (3) and head rest (4) are extended, and positioned to form a camp bed.
It is lightweight, strong and can be used as a normal functioning suitcase to carry clothes and other contents, when the extendable hinged legs and head rest are retracted into the suitcase.
The invention suitcase/camp bed comprises of an external suitcase shell (1), detachable inner lining (2): detached by means of zip or other fastening mechanism (8), extending pull handle (with material insert panel) (3), extendable head rest (4), hinged legs (5), and wheels (6). Also provided is an opening for the head rest to be extracted (7) and a zip or other fastening mechanism (8).
The suitcase detailed in fig A, is the suitcase (1) in a closed position with the extending pUll handle (3) and the extractable head rest (4) retracted, detachable lining (2) attached and the hinged legs (5) stowed wjthin the suitcase shell (1).
The-open-position -fig-Grfiuliy-extended suitcase provides-the-camp bed facility_from the suitcase provided.
The basis is a very light weight suitcase shell (1) construOted of a suitably strong material capable of holding body weight, fastening by means of a zip or other fastening mechanism (8).
The detachable inner lining (2) is constructed of light wcight waterproof material, fastening by means of a zip or other fastening mechanism (8).
The extending hinged legs (5) and extending pull handle (3) are made from materials such as plastic composite or a light weight metal.
The suitcase has the appearance of an ordinary suitcase, as the hinged legs (5) fold flat against the inner shell of the suitcase (1). This allows fU1J access and maximum use of the luggage compartment (inner lining (2)), for clothes and other contents within the suitcase.
As the lining is detachable (2) the contents can be removed from the suitcase whilst remaining contained within the detached inner lining.
It is only afler the removal of the inner lining from the suitcase (1) that the hinged legs (5) are exposed although contained within the suitcase shell. Fig C The legs (5) are hinged and attached to the shell of the suitcase (1), this allows the legs (5) to freely extend FIG D When the case is then fully open, lining detached and the legs fully extended FIG D, the case is then turned over with the weight of the case being supported by the hinged legs FIG E. The extending pull handle (3) is then fully extended from the suitcase shell (1). The headrest (4) is then extended from the opening (7) of the suitcase shell (1).
The suitcase is now transfornied into a camp bed or sun lounger capable of supporting the weight of a person.
Owing to the versatility of the suitcase! camp bed, accessories such as an inflatable pillow, inflatable mattress, toweling cover and sun shad can be provided.
As this camp bed is suitable for use on the beach, feet can be attached to each of the e*tendable legs to prevent the legs from sinking into the sand.
This suitcase is also suitable for camping and musical festivals it will also be available with larger wheels to suite the terrain it is inten4ed for.
Smaller versions of this suitcase will comply with cabin acceptable sized suitcases.
This would provide a camp bed/sun lounger a child suitable for children, which would then be used during the holiday to pack up for a trip to the beach affording a child their very own sun lounger.
