Description

Seat for a Vehicle, in particular a Passenger Vehicle The invention relates to a seat according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
Such seats for vehicles, in particular passenger vehicles, are well-known from the general prior art. Such a seat comprises a seat part and a backrest which is connected to the seat part. Usually, the backrest is pivotably connected to the seat part about a pivot axis so that the backrest can be adjusted in relation to the seat part.
ON 202413480 U shows a seat comprising a seat part and a backrest. The backrest comprises a first portion and a second portion adjoining the first portion in the vertical direction of the seat and the backrest. The second portion is pivotably mounted on the first portion so that the second portion can be pivoted in relation to the first portion.
Moreover, KR 20080083292 shows a seat comprising a seat part and a backrest connected to the seat part. Moreover, the seat comprises a headrest which is pivotably mounted on the backrest. In case of an accident, the headrest can be pivoted forwards, in particular towards the seat part to protect a seat occupant.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a seat of the aforementioned kind, by means of which seat at least one occupant of the vehicle can be protected particularly effectively.
This object is solved by a seat having the features of patent claim 1. Advantageous embodiments with expedient and non-trivial developments of the invention are indicated in the other patent claims.
In order to provide a seat of the kind indicated in the preamble of patent claim 1, by means of which seat at least one occupant of a vehicle comprising the seat can be protected particularly effectively, according to the present invention, the seat comprises an actuating device configured to pivot at least a portion of the backrest towards the seat part in case of an accident. It has been shown that a rear occupant of a vehicle can come into contact with a conventional seat arranged in front of the rear occupant in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle since the rear occupant is moved forwards due to an accident. During the accident, accelerations can act upon the rear occupant, in particular the head of the rear occupant thereby moving the head towards the seat arranged in front of the rear occupant. Thus, a collision of the head with the conventional seat arranged in the front of the rear occupant can occur.
Such a collision between the head of a rear occupant and the backrest of the seat according to the present invention can be avoided since at least the portion of the backrest can be moved towards the seat part and, thus, away from the rear occupant by means of the actuating device. Thereby, the rear occupant can be protected particularly effectively.
Further advantages, features, and details of the invention derive from the following description of a preferred embodiment as well as from the drawings. The features and feature combinations previously mentioned in the description as well as the features and feature combinations mentioned in the following description of the figures and/or shown in the figures alone can be employed not only in the respective indicated combination but also in any other combination or taken alone without leaving the scope of the invention.
The drawings show in: Fig. 1 a schematic perspective view of a first embodiment of a seat for a vehicle, the seat comprising an actuating device configured to pivot at least a portion of a backrest of the seat towards a seat part in case of an accident; Fig. 2 a schematic perspective view of the seat, wherein the portion of the backrest is pivoted forwards; Fig. 3 a schematic side view of the seat according to Fig. 1; Fig. 4 a schematic side view of the seat according to Fig. 2; Fig. 5 a further schematic side view of the seat according to Fig. 3; Fig. 6 a schematic side view of the seat, wherein Fig. 6 illustrates a second embodiment, a third embodiment and a fourth embodiment of the seat; Fig. 7 a schematic side view of the second embodiment of the seat; Fig. 8 a schematic side view of the third embodiment of the seat; and Fig. 9 a schematic side view of the fourth embodiment of the seat.
In the figures the same element or elements having the same functions are designated with the same reference signs.
Fig. 1 shows a seat 10 for a vehicle, in particular a passenger vehicle. For example, the vehicle comprises at least two seat rows arranged one after another in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. This means a first one of said seat rows is a front seat row, wherein the other seat row is a rear seat row. The seat 10 is configured as a front seat which is to be arranged in the front seat row. For example, the seat 10 is a passenger seat or a driver's seat. Thus, the seat 10 is arranged in front of at least one backseat 12 of the vehicle, the backseat 12 being shown in Figs. 3 and 4. The backseat 12 is arranged in the rear seat row. Figs. 3 and 4 show a rear occupant 14 sitting in the seat 12.
The seat 10 comprises a seat part 16 having a cushion 18 which comprises a seating surface 20. Moreover, the seat 10 comprises a backrest 22 having a seat back surface 24. The backrest 22 is connected to the seat part 16. For example, the backrest 22 is pivotably coupled to the seat part 16 about a pivot axis which extends in the transverse direction of the vehicle when the seat 10 is arranged in an interior of the vehicle.
Moreover, the seat 10 comprises a headrest 26 which is mounted on the backrest 22. The backrest 22 comprises a first lower portion 28 and a second upper portion 30 adjoining the lower portion 28 in the vertical direction of the backrest 22. The vertical direction of the backrest 22 corresponds with the vertical direction of the seat 10 and the vertical direction of the vehicle. The upper portion 30 is rotatable or pivotable in relation to the lower portion 28 about a rotation axis 32 extending in the transverse direction of the seat 10.
The seat 10 comprises a rotating mechanism 34 having at least one shaft 36. The shalt 36 is attached to the upper portion 30 and rotatable about the pivot axis 32. Thus, the upper portion 30 can be rotated together with the shaft 36 about the pivot axis 32 in relation to the lower portion 28.
The seat 10 comprises an actuating device 38 configured to pivot the upper portion 30 of the backrest 22 relative to the lower portion 28 towards the seat part 16 in case of an accident. The actuating device 38 comprises at least one gear wheel 40 connected to the shalt 36 in a rotationally fixed manner. Thus, the gear wheel 40 and the shaft 36 are rotatable together about the pivot axis 32.
Moreover, the actuating device 38 comprises a gear rod 42 meshing with the gear wheel 40. For example, the gear rod 42 is translationally movable, i.e. slidable in relation to the shaft 36. By sliding the gear rod 42 in relation to the gear wheel 40, the translational movement ol the gear rod 42 is transformed into a rotational movement of the gear wheel 40 about the pivot axis 32 since the gear rod 42 meshes with the gear wheel 40. Thereby, the shalt 36 is rotated about the pivot axis 32 which results in pivoting the upper portion 30 about the pivot axis 32 relative to the lower portion 26 towards the seat part 16. This means the upper portion 30 is rotated or pivoted away from the rear seat 12 and, thus, the rear occupant 14 in case ol an accident.
In other words, the upper portion 30 is rotatable between a use position shown in Figs. 1 and 3 and at least one protective position shown in Figs. 2 in relation to the lower portion 28 and the seat part 16 by means of the actuating device 38 in case of an accident, in particular a Irontal impact of the vehicle.
The actuating device 38 comprises a gas generator 44 which is configured as, for example, a pyrotechnic device. The gas generator 44 (pyrotechnic device) is configured to generate a gas in the event ol an accident. The gas generator 44 is fluidically connected to the gear rod 42 by at least one duct element 46 which is, for example, a connecting pipe. The gas generated by the gas generator 44 can flow through the duct element 46 Irom the gas generator 44 to the gear rod 42. The gas generated by the gas generator 44 applies a pressure, and, thus a lorce on the gear rod 42 which is translationally moved by said pressure.
Thus, the gear rod 42 can be translationally moved by means of the gas generated by the gas generator 44. In other words, the gas generator 44 is configured to elfect a translational movement ol the gear rod 42 which results in a rotational movement of the gear wheel 40 thereby pivoting the upper portion 30 towards the seat part 16. This means the upper portion 30 is pivoted forwards with respect to the longitudinal direction of the vehicle.
The translational movement of the gear rod 42 is illustrated in Fig. 2 by a directional arrow 48. The rotational movement of the shaft 36 and, thus, the upper portion 30 about the pivot axis 32 is illustrated in Fig. 2 by a directional arrow 50, said rotational movement being effected by the translational movement of the gear rod 42.
The gas generator 44 generates the gas when the gas generator 44 is ignited. The gas generator 44 comprises a propellant which is converted into gas by igniting the gas generator 44. As can be seen from Figs. 3 and 4, the rear occupant 14 is moved forwards towards the seat 10 in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle due to a frontal impact.
Since the upper portion 30 and, thus, the headrest 26 are pivoted forwards about the pivot axis 32, the head 52 of the rear occupant 14 does not collide with the backrest 22.
Thus, the rear occupant 14 can be protected particularly effectively.
Fig. 5 illustrates a safety system 54 of the vehicle. The safety system 54 comprises an electronic control unit ECU which is electrically coupled to the gas generator 44, a position sensor 56, a pressure sensor 58 and at least one crash sensor 60. The crash sensor 60 is configured to detect an accident, for example, a frontal impact. Moreover, the crash sensor 60 is configured to provide a crash signal indicative of the detected frontal impact. The electronic control unit ECU is configured to receive the crash signal so that the electronic control unit ECU can detect the frontal impact.
The seat 10 is mounted to a floor 62 of the vehicle by a seat adjustment mechanism 64.
For example, the seat adjustment mechanism 64 comprises at least one seat rail along which the seat 10 can be translationally moved in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle.
Thus, the seat 10 can be moved in a plurality of positions along the seat rail. Moreover, the seat 10 can be fixed in said positions to the seat rail.
The position sensor 56 is configured to detect the position in which the seat 10 is fixed to the seat rail. Moreover, the position sensor 56 is configured to provide a position signal indicative of the position of the seat 10 in relation to the seat rail. The electronic control unit ECU is configured to receive the position signal so that the electronic control unit ECU can detect the position of the seat 10. The pressure sensor 58 is configured to detect whether or not a rear occupant such as the rear occupant 14 sits in the rear seat 12. The rear passenger 14 sitting in the rear seat 12 exerts a pressure and, thus, a force on the pressure sensor 58. Said pressure can be detected by the pressure sensor 58. The pressure sensor 58 is configured to provide a pressure signal indicative of the pressure exerted by the rear occupant 14 on the pressure sensor 58. The electronic control unit ECU is configured to receive the pressure signal so that the electronic control unit ECU can detect whether or not a rear occupant is sitting in the rear seat 12.
Moreover, the gas generator 44 can be ignited by the electronic control unit ECU. Thus, when the electronic control unit ECU detects a frontal impact in dependency on the crash signal and when the electronic control unit ECU detects that a rear occupant is sitting in the rear seat 12 in dependency on the pressure signal, the electronic control unit ECU ignites the gas generator 44 in dependency on the position signal. Thus, the upper portion is pivoted forward and away from the rear occupant 14 so that a collision between the head 52 and the backrest 22 and the headrest 26 can be avoided.
Fig. 6 illustrates three different locations A, B and C at which the shaft 36 and, thus, the pivot axis 32 can be arranged. Fig. 7 shows a second embodiment of the seat 10, in which second embodiment the pivot axis 32 is arranged at location A. Fig. 8 shows a third embodiment of the seat 10, in which third embodiment the pivot axis 32 is arranged at location B. Moreover, Fig. 9 shows a fourth embodiment of the seat 10, in which fourth embodiment the pivot axis 32 is arranged at location C. Moreover, respective rotational angles ol -3 are shown about which the respective upper portions 30 are rotated. The respective values of the rotational angles 01-3 required for the rotation of the upper portion 30 to avoid the collision of the head 52 with the backrest 22 depends on the location of the pivot axis 32.
