Description
Title.
Twist top opener ( cap closure).
Introduction and background to the invention.
The invention is to be used for a twist top can closure operation of a drinks, food or other applicable or suitable opening operation system that the invention can be applied to.
The impotant technical features are the snug over the top of the main body container fitting, of the twist cap closure, allowing for the twist action also the locating strip nipple and aperture pull that allows for the aperture strip-pull to tear open.
The essential features are the groove in the can container body that allows the fold over lug s on the lower of the twist cap closure that connect with the can body groove for ease of twist action, The new novel method of a hole and nipple hermetic tear strip-pull system that also hides under the cap closure on openig and its method of opening, and the reclose indent created on the twist cap closure which is pressed into the twist cap closure in manufacture, and is twisted on the second action after opening to create a sealed close for the can container when required.
All these features are essential and preferred.
There is no other known invention available today which has all of the novel features in one product or singularly on a drinks container.
This inventions features are useful in all ways for safety and consumer friendlyness and the recycle ability once used and ready for disposal.
The problems overcome with this invention are the cumbersome opening of the ring-pull system generally used on containers of the same generality the ability for the container to be more consumer friendly with the twist cap closure reclosure system.
Containers.
This invention relates to containers and in particular to containers having a metal or aluminium container body, such as cans in which energy beverages and other products are commonly packaged.
In many cases it is desirable for containers to be easily recloseable. the most desirable type of reclosure, so far as the user is concerned, is one which is via a ring pulling action aperture of the container and pulled to effect the opening of the can, for example a ring pull opening of which many kinds are available. Also by using the regular screw cap and thread closure. However it is now necessary, in order to satisfactorily apply a twist open and reclosure opening to a metal or aluminium container body, with a locating groove around the upper part of the container body wall. In production this is a relativly easy process and adds no significant cost to container production.
Also if it is desired to have a printed or other decorative finish extending right to the top of the container, the locating groove operation will not affect the decorative finish to the product.
Further, many products including food stuffs require tobe packaged in metal containers which are hermetically sealed and easy to open. This is today and has been done in recent years using the well known ring-pull closure, a ring of which is pulled in order to tear away a part of the hermetically sealed lid of the container. This type of closure is destroyed on opening and therefore requires an additional re-closure after he lid has been broken open.
The presented invention provides a container comprising a metal or aluminium container body having a twist top opening access aperture with a curled rim, and built-in reclosing indent with formations which are inter-engageable by the twisting movement of the twist top opener to secure the opened aperture of the container body.
The invention thereby provides a particularly economical form of twist closure and opening, also because it avoids the necessity for the relatively expensive operation of threading the wall of the container and also enables the use of a can which has a short product length and therefore requires less material than the longer product body container..The twist top opener is in addition easily fixed and secuerd to the can body via the existing manufacture process.
Also, because the invention involves formations mostly above the curled rim of the container and less on the container wall, the possibility of damaging a finish applied to the can wall is substantially avoided.
In addition the invention can be applied to any type of can body or other form of product packaging that this invention of twist-open,consume and close twist top can be applied to.This combination providing not only a hermetic seal and easy opening facilities, but also easy and effective re-closure of the container after the hermetic seal has been broken.
The twist top opener part of the invention is a shallow flush fitting top closure lid that connects to the container body via the existing nipple that is produced in manufactureThe top depth may be greater than that shown in the accompanying drawings of descripion, as desired with the depth to requirement of the can body correspondingly manufactured.
In order that the invention may be more clearly realised and understood, five embodiments there of will now be described, by way of examplewith reference to the accompanying diagrammatic drawings in which: Shows a front view of the containers according to the invention, of how the product will stack for transport and wholesale and retail stocking. fiqi no,s I and 2. fj2.
