Description

A Storage Compartment for an Interior of a Motor Vehicle The invention relates to a storage compartment for an interior of a motor vehicle according to the preamble of claim 1.
Such a storage compartment can for example be taken as known from KR 20120003615, where it is designed as a metal pocket having a bottle holder unit. The bottle holder unit described in this document comprises a side panel and a holding unit. The side panel projects from a pocket body and forms the receiving space of a water bottle. The holding unit is formed in the front end of the receiving space and varies the receiving space. The holding unit comprises a fixing unit, a sliding panel, and a variable bending unit. The fixing unit is positioned in the front end of the receiving space. The sliding panel supports the water bottle, which is accepted in the receiving space. The variable bending unit is compressed and transformed by being formed between the fixing unit and the sliding panel.
By means of this storage compartment the emergence of noise emissions can be prevented, which are generated when e.g. a water bottle bumps against the wall of the bottle holder unit when driving by adhering the water bottle to the inside of the bottle holder unit. Such storage compartments (here map pocket having a bottle holder unit) are very effective in suppressing any noise which may occur when containers, e.g. bottles, rattle in the bottle holder unit when the motor vehicle is driving, but these storage compartments are most inflexible when e.g. the containers that shall be stored within the storage compartment comprise different shapes that vary from the conventional bottle shape. Accordingly, it is difficult to store other items except bottle-like containers in such storage compartments.
It is the object of the present invention to provide a storage compartment of the initially mentioned kind, which is especially flexible for carrying items of different shapes and which is especially space-saving.
According to the invention, this object is solved by a storage compartment having the features of claim 1. Advantageous configurations with convenient developments of the invention are specified in the remaining claims.
In order to provide a storage compartment of the initially mentioned kind, which is very flexible and also very space-saving, it is provided according to the invention that the cup-holding device comprises at least one holding element, which is movable from a fixing position to a stowed position in dependency on the respective position of the hinged cover element. If the holding element is moved into the fixing position, it is capable of fixing items that shall be stored in the storage compartment. The holding element can also be moved into a stowed position in dependency on the movement of the hinged cover element. In the stowed position the holding clement is arranged in an especially space-saving manner, in which items of larger sizes can be stored especially easily in the storage compartment. In other words, in dependency on the hinged cover element's movement the available space in the storage compartment can be varied in an especially
comfortable manner.
Further advantages, features and details of the invention are apparent from the following description of a preferred embodiment as well as based on the drawings.
They show in: Fig. 1 a a schematic side view of a driver's door comprising a storage compartment with a cup-holding device; Fig. lb a detailed isometric view of the cup-holding device according to Fig. 1A; Fig. 2 an exploded view of the cup-holding device showing at least essential parts of the cup-holding device; Fig. 3a an isometric view of the cup-holding device, wherein a hinged cover element of the cup-holding device is adjusted in another position; Fig. 3b an isometric view of the cup-holding device, wherein the hinged cover element is adjusted in a holding position; Fig. 3c an isometric view of the cup-holding device, wherein the hinged cover element is in its holding position and a container is held by the cup-holding device; and in Fig. 4 a schematic side view of the cup-holding device showing the movement of its essential parts in dependency on the hinged cover element.
Fig. 1 a shows a schematic side view of a driver door 24 of a motor vehicle comprising an arm rest 15 and a storage compartment 1 arranged beneath the arm rest 15 and a storage compartment 1 arranged beneath the arm rest 15. The storage compartment 1 comprises a card tray 25 with a side wall 2 and a wall 14, which is arranged approximately perpendicular to the side wall 2. By means of the side wall 2 and the wall 14 stored items can be prevented from falling out of the card tray 25. A cup-holding device 3 is arranged adjacent to the wall 14 of the card tray 25. The cup-holding device 3 is narrowed by both the wall 14 and an opposing wall 26, which is arranged in parallel to the wall 14.
Fig. lb shows a detailed view of the cup-holding device 3. The cup-holding device 3 comprises a back wall 13 and a hinged cover element 4, which is designed as a map pocket split cover and which is currently arranged in another position 6. The back wall 13 is arranged at a door panel 27 of the driver door 24. The back wall 13 flushes with the door panel 27 and the side wall 2 of the storage compartment 1 at least substantially flushes with the hinged cover element 4 if the cup-holding device 3 is in another position 6. When the hinged cover element 4 is in its other position 6, the cup-holding device 3 is in a so-called non-use condition.
Fig. 2 shows an exploded view of the cup-holding device 3. It is visible that the present hinged cover element 4 comprises two opposing pivot bearings 18 by means of which respective holding elements 7 are rotatably mounted. The holding elements 7 each comprise an arcuate segment 10, by means of which a container 11, which is inserted into the cup-holding device 3, can be surrounded at least substantially, if the container 11 is rotation-symmetric. Each of the holding elements 7 also comprises a lever arm 21 and an arm link 22. The arm link 22 of the holding elements 7 is designed e.g. as a rotary joint, which is pivotably connected with a connecting end 29 of respective support links 17. Besides the connecting end 29 each of the two support links 17 also comprises a bearing end 30, which is pivotably connected to a support bearing 20, wherein the support bearing 20 is arranged at a depositing area 31 of the back wall 13. The depositing area 31 is designed as the bottom of the cup-holding device 3, upon which the container 11 rests if it is inserted into the cup-holding device 3. The cup-holding device 3 also comprises a support cover 16, on which two arcuate segments 26 are arranged opposite to each other. By means of both the arcuate segments 28 of the support cover 16 and the arcuate segments 10 of each holding element 7 the container 11, which is not shown in Fig. 2, can be fixed especially safely and can therefore be prevented from rattling in the cup-holding device 3. When assembling the different parts of the cup-holding device a bearing end 32 of the hinged cover element 4 is pivotably connected with a cover bearing 19 arranged at the depositing area 31 of the back wall 13. The hinged cover element 4 is spring-actuated by a spring element 12, by means of which the hinged cover element 4 is moved from the other position 6 to a holding position 5.
Fig. 3a, Fig. 3b, and Fig. 3c show an isometric view of the cup-holding device 3, wherein in Fig. 3a the hinged cover element 4 is in its other position 6 and in Fig. 3b and Fig. 3c the hinged cover element 4 is in its holding position 5. Fig. 3b shows the cup-holding device 3 without and Fig. 3c shows the cup-holding device with a container 11 designed as a bottle. With the hinged cover element 4 arranged in the other position 6 the cup-holding device 3 is adjusted in a closed condition. In this closed condition the holding elements 7 are in a stowed position 9, in which they are adjusted in an especially space-saving manner. In the stowed position 9 the holding elements 7 are at least essentially adjusted in parallel to the hinged cover element 4, thus the cup-holding device 3 only needs very little space in the interior of a motor vehicle. When the hinged cover element 4 is in its other position 6 and accordingly in a position, in which a container 11, e.g. a bottle, cannot be stored within the cup-holding device 3, the holding elements 7 thus get folded and the cup-holding device 3 can be used as a map pocket or as a storage bin, respectively.
Fig. 3b shows the cup-holding device 3 in an open condition, in which it is capable of carrying the container 11. In the open condition the hinged cover element 4 is in the holding position 5 and the holding elements 7 are in a fixing position 8, in which they are capable of partially surrounding the container 11 at least substantially. As one can see in Fig. 3c, the cup-holding device 3 is capable of holding the container 11 (bottle) in an especially space-saving manner. By means of this mechanism also larger containers 11, such as 1.5 litre bottles, can be fixed safely.
Fig. 4 shows a schematic side view of the cup-holding device 3, wherein the hinged cover element 4 is both illustrated in its holding position 5 (dash-dotted lines) and in its other position 6. Fig. 4 also shows that the holding element 7 is movable from its fixing position 8 to its stowed position 9 in dependency on the respective position of the hinged cover element 4. If the hinged cover element 4 is arranged in its other position 6, the holding element 7 is arranged in its stowed position 9. The spring element 12 (not shown in Fig. 4) is arranged between the back wall 13 of the cup-holding device 3 and the hinged cover element. By means of the spring element 12 the hinged cover element 4 is moved from the other position 6 to the holding position 5. If the hinged cover element 4 is in its other position 6, the holding element 7 is at least substantially adjusted in a position parallel to the hinged cover element 4, which means that the holding element 7 is in its stowed position 9 due to the kinematic conditions between the cover element 4 and the holding element 7. Since the holding element 7 is pivotably connected with the hinged cover element 4 by means of the pivot bearing 18 and additionally the arm link 22 of the holding element 7 is pivotably connected with the connecting element 29 of the support link 17, the support link 17, the lever arm 21 and the hinged cover element 4 with its pivot bearing 18 form a rhomboid-like kinematical arrangement due to the fact that the hinged cover element 4 is pivotably connected with the cover bearing 19 and the support link 17 is pivotably connected with the support bearing 20. Both the cover bearing 19 and the support bearing 20 are arranged at the depositing area 31 of the back wall 13 and therefore they are fixed relative to each other. If the hinged cover element 4 is moved from its other position 6 to the holding position 5, at the same time the holding element 7 is rotating around the pivot bearing 18 according to a direction of rotation 23, which is marked by a double arrow.
It is clear, that the cup holding device 3 can also be arranged at a center console and additionally or alternatively at an instrument panel of the motor vehicle.
