Abstract

A device (9, fig 4) can be clamped to a brick, block, or timber (10, fig 4) in order to prevent an alignment line (8, fig 4) from moving out of position or falling out of place. The device preferably includes an adjustable spring 1 attached to a threaded rod 2. The threaded rod may attach to an inner member 3 through a hollow outer tube 4, to produces a telescopic adjustment of the clamping bars 6, 7 to fit various sizes of brick, block or timber.

Description

Construction Line Clamp This invention relates to the construction of a wall.
When constructing walls made of brick, block or timber it is essential that such structures are built to the alignment of the commonly used string line. Due to the unpredictable nature of the string line, construction can be interrupted or imprecise due to the string line moving out of place.
To overcome this, the present invention clamps to the structure of the brick, block, or timber used in construction, preventing stated alignment line from falling out of position. The clamp is made up of two lengths of square hollow tubing, -one of which fits inside the other so that it is telescopic-a spring and a threaded rod.
The rod is threaded through the spring and female hollow tube and then attached to the male tube.
The clamp allows a string line to be attached to a brick, block or timber, thus making a string line to work to.
Figure 1 shows a side view of the Construction Line Clamp with slotted bar and angle iron Figure 2 shows an aerial view of the slotted bar and angle iron Figure 3 shows a disassembled view of all parts of the Construction Line Clamp Figure 4 shows the Construction Line Clamp attached to a brick, block or timber with a string line In figure 1 a spring 1 is placed over a threaded bar 2 which then goes through the female hollow tube 4.
The female hollow tube then attaches to a male square hollow tube 3 in order to allow adjustment of the Construction Line clamp itself. A slotted bar 5 allows room for attachment of a string line which then goes through an angled bar 7, keeping the string line in place. A flat bar 6 is attached to male hollow tube 3 in order to form a stop on the attachment of a brick, block or timber.
Figure 2 shows an alternative embodiment of the Construction Line Clamp in order to show position of angled bar 7.
Figure 3 shows a disassembled view of figures I and 2.
Figure 4 shows how the Construction Line Clamp 9 can be fixated to a brick, block or timber 10 in order to prevent the string line 8 from moving out of place.

Claims (1)

  1. Claims I: A device which can be clamped to a brick, block, or timber in order to prevent the commonly used alignment line from moving out of position or falling out of place.
2: As the Construction Line Clamp is clamped to the brick, block or timber the alignment line is kept taught.
3: The Construction Line Clamp can be attached to varying sizes of brick, block or timber due to the telescopic nature of the Construction Line Clamp.
4: Lateral pressure is not applied to the brick, block, or timber resulting in undisturbed alignment.
5: The Construction Line clamp can be operated with the use of one hand only.
6: Due to the nature of The Construction Line Clamp, the alignment line will always follow the arris of the brick, block, or timber.
