Abstract

A drinks pack comprising one or more containers which contain materials (these may be chemical reactants such as ammonium nitrate and water) that cause an endothermic reaction when mixed together. These containers are lodged within a pack of drink bottles or cans. When the endothermic reaction occurs it cools the drink bottles/cans within the pack, ensuring the bottles or cans contents are cooled. The containers may have a trigger which, when pressed or activated, causes the reactive ingredients to mix and produce the endothermic reaction. The trigger may act to break a partition between two reactants in each container so that they mix and react, and so cool the surrounding bottles or cans and the contents within. These containers may be used in packs of beverages such as beer or soft drinks.

Drinks pack
Field of the invention
This invention relates to packs of drinks in the form of bottles or cans including beer and soft drinks.
Background to the invention
Packs of drinks are typically sold either from shelves at room temperature or from fridges. If the latter they will of course cool down over a short period. In either ease the contents of the bottles or cans may be at room temperature or even warmer when the owner/consumer/user wishes to consume the drinks.
Statements of the invention
According to the present invention there is provided a drinks pack including one or more containers lodged within the drinks pack, the containers including materials such that, when mixed together, an endothermic reactions ensues thereby cooling the drink bottles or cans within the pack.
The or each container may be split into separate regions in which the separated reactants are stored. A container may be provided with a "trigger" which, when pressed or otherwise activated, causes the reactive ingredients to come together to produce the endothermie reaction.
Typical reactants include ammonium nitrate and water.
Embodiment An embodiment of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawing.
The accompanying drawing is a plan view of a pack of six cans of beer or soft drinks.
Between the cans are two containers each containing reactants for producing an endothermic reaction. When the drinks are to be consumed, one or both of the endothermic reactions may be initiated. In each case this may be done by pressing firmly on the central area of the containers which is labelled "Ice". This acts to break a partition between the reactants located in each container so that they mix together and produce the endothermic reaction, thereby cooling the surrounding cans and their contents.
