Abstract
250,528. Toronto Type Foundry Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Shipley, J. H.). April 11, 1925, [Convention date]. Sheet-separators. - In connection with sheetfeeding mechanism more especially of the kind in which the sheets are separated and forwarded by a suction roller a, the separation of the sheets is assisted by air blasts delivered by a pipe which is adjustable vertically, transversely, and angularly so as to deliver the blasts at adjustable angles, and the apertures through which the blasts are delivered may in part be closed so as to regulate the volume of the blast. The air blasts are delivered from a pipe f, Fig. 1, carried by an upright e<1> which is vertically adjustable in a clip e<11>, itself adjustable on a transverse rod h fitted with a fixing-screw h<1>. The pipe f is rotatable in a T- piece f<1>, and is formed with an arm f<4> for adjusting it angularly to the correct position after it has been adjusted vertically and in the desired transverse position. To regulate the volume of the blast, some of the circular perforations f<3>, Fig. 4, may be covered over by spring clips f<11>, or the longitudinal slits g, Fig. 5, may be partially covered by spring metal clips g<1>. The height and inclination of the pipe f, and the amount of covering of the apartures f3, g are regulated by the attendant to suit the size and weight of the paper acted upon.
