Description

MtJLTI-IThLLED FLASK HAVING A LIGHTWEIGHT STRUCTURE, ND
THOD FOR CREATING SAID FLASK
The present invention relates to a flask of the type md udi nq a ref a Lively rigid at: ructu re forming a.
bou.srng, formed by aside wall, a base and a. neck, which housing is l.nti.s.na tel y associated with a flEaxibie inner bag placed next to the inner surface of its side wall, in order to line it, and intended to be subsequently peeled off and to receive a roduct to he dispensed, via a dispensing member, This type of t:lask, widely used in the pnc,cJ.raceuLLca.iorco smetology industry is iì-tended to cont a in liquid or oast.y precincts These flasks nevertheless have the drawback of requir ing he apolication of a significant amount of mJ.astic material, notably at the outer housing -The tter generates a a iqi: .tt.rcant'. greenhouse gas emission over the wbo e of-its life Lime.
According to the Kvoto protocol di. rect flea, the States are recurred to recL:Lce their greenhouse gas emr salons. in this perspective, a. reduction. in the thr.crness of the walls of the rigid, housing of the flask has already been proposed, hut the technological limits are attained for the market of cosmetIcs or pharmacy.
Purely arid simply suppr-assine said rigid housing while orL],v keening a bag has also been proposed, :ouu the latter being necessarily flexible, it does not provide the properties of mechanical strength, notably during use.
According to the type of flask concerned by the invention, the housing and the flexible bag are obtained by co-extrusion and blowing during a same operation.
According to the main object of the invention, it is sought to reduce the amount of plastic material used in the making of the housing. But a difficulty to be overcome stems from the fact that the bag is contiguously present behind the wall of the housing, while the main inventive idea is to lighten the structure while making in the latter substantial removals of material, by producing recesses forming windows in the housing.
Documents US 5,447,678, US 5,567,377, US 5,407,629 and EP 0 893 356 teach the piercing of the wall of a housing of a flask of this type, with one or several holes of relatively small dimensions, the role of which is to obtain return of air. But the recesses to be produced according to the invention have quite another size and consequently do not allow piercing because of the presence of the flexible bag which should not be attained.
The present invention gives the possibility of finding a remedy to the whole of these drawbacks and for this purpose, relates to a flask of the type including a relatively rigid outer structure, forming a housing, formed by a side wall, a base and a neck, which housing is intimately associated with a flexible inner bag placed next to the inner surface of its side wall, in order to line it, and intended to be subsequently peeled off and to receive a product to be dispensed, via a dispensing member (not shown), characterized in that at least one portion of the side wall of the housing includes at least one recess forming a window passing through the wall, made on one of its generatrices, in order to form a reinforcement around the flexible bag, the total surface area of the recess being such as to reduce the weight of the housing, without compromising its mechanical strength.
The advantages according to the invention are multiple. The tests have actually shown that it was possible to attain a weight reduction ranging up to 40% and allowing the recycling of material offcuts from the cuts made on the housing for obtaining the recessed areas. The result of this is a strong reduction in the emissions of greenhouse gases.
The inventicn also relates to the features which
will become apparent during the description which
follows, and which have to be considered individually or according to all their possible technical combinations.
This description given as a non-limiting example
will provide a better understanding on how the invention may be carried out with reference to the appended drawings wherein: Fig. 1 illustrates a front view of a flask with a rigid housing, made lightweight according to the method for carrying out the Invention.
Fig. 2 illustrates a top view of the flask according to Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 illustrates a side view of The. flask according to Fig. 1, after 9Q0 rotation around its axis Fig. 4 iLlustrates a trout view of a flask with a 0-rigid housin, made 1. i.g]tweight accorumng to an aJ.ternar-,i ye embodiment of the invention.

Fig. 7 illustrates a perspective view o. thc. flask according to Figs. 4 to 6 The flask globally designated in the figures may be of the "airless" type. It includes a relatively rigid outer a t.ructure2.,2A, f.o.rn:Lncx a housing, formed a side walL 4, 4A, a base 5, 5A and. a neck 6, 6/1, which housing is intimately associated with a flexible inner bag placed next to the inner surface of its side wall, in order to line it, and intended to:oe subsequently reeled oft and to receive a product to he dispensed, vi a a dispens inn member (not sh.own The dispensing member may also be: -of the atmuspheric pump type with a return of 25. air as a replacement for the taken dose, of the. "airless" type without return of ar; of the dispensing plug type with closure.
According to the essential feature of the JflCflLj on, at least one portion of the s-ide wall of the.
housing 2, 2Aincludes at lea s-S one recess fcrminq a window 7,7/1 passing through the wall, made or: one of

its generatrices, in order to font a reinforcement around the flexible bag 3,3A, the total surface area of the recess being such that the weight of the housing is reduced, without compromising its mechanical strength.
Generally, as shown by the figures on their whole, the reinforcement forming the rigid housing 2,2A of the flask 1,lA includes a plurality of recesses 7,7A, forming as many windows of different or identical size and shape, alternating with solid areas 8,8A, either symmetrically or not, in order to obtain rigid meshing ensuring the minimum mechanical properties of said flask l,1A.
According to an alternative embodiment not shown, the rigid housing 2 includes at least two opposite solid areas 8, delimiting two additional recesses 7.
According to the practical exemplary embodiment of Figs. 1 to 3, the rigid housing 2 includes four pairwise-opposite solid areas 8, delimiting four additional recesses 7. The recesses 7 are here with an elliptical shape.
The flask 1A illustrated in Figs. 4 to 7 essentially differs from the preceding one according to Figs. 1 to 3 in that the recesses 7A, although also with an elliptical shape, are different in number, in dimensions and in arrangement.
The invention also relates to the method for making a flask 1 or 1A which has just been described, for which the recesses 7,7A forming the windows are obtained according to the following phases: -simultaneously making by co-extrusion and blowing, a rigid housing 2,2A with a solid structure, without recesses 7,7A, and its associated flexible bag 3, 3A, -peeling off the flexible bag 3,3A from the reinforcement forming the rigid housing 2,2A, -cutting out the recesses 7,7A, -repositioning the flexible bag 3,3A against the inner walls of the reinforcement forming the rigid housing 2,2A.
The latter operation may be carried out by pressurizing the bag 3,3A with air.
The aforementioned operation for detachment of the flexible bag 3,3A from the rigid housing with a solid structure 2,2A is carried out by a pressure difference between the flexible bag 3,3A and said housing 2,2A, before cutting out the recesses 7,7A.
In another way, the operation for peeling off the flexible bag 3,3A from the rigid housing with a solid structure 2,2A is carried out by setting said housing 2,2A into vibration with an ultrasonic frequency, before cutting out the recesses 7,7A.
Or further the peeling-off of the flexible bag 3,3A from the rigid housing with a solid structure 2,2A is obtained by mechanical action on said housing 2,2A, before cutting out the recesses 7,7A.
As regards the cutting out of the recesses 7,7A in the wall 4,4A, the latter may be carried out with vibrations. In this case, a sonotrode forming a mask, delimiting the contour of the cut is applied on the housing 2,2A. The frequency of the vibrations may be in the ultrasonic range.
