Abstract
A CCTV camera includes a spinning dome camera housing for removing dust, rain, sleet, snow or ice from the outside of the camera housing thereby keeping the image area that the camera looks through clear. The CCTV camera is provided with a motor driven revolving circular transport for spinning the dome housing. A sensor is located on the outside of the housing for detecting dust, rain, sleet, snow or ice, and accordingly energising the motor.
Description
Description of the spinning dome cctv camera housing.
All external camera housings have problems keeping the image area that the camera or focusing element looks through free from rain sleet snow and ice.
P17 cameras have no effective way of keeping the viewing area clear if its housing has a dome type viewing area and if left unattended the image will become distorted because of rain sleet or snow landing on it,this also applies even more so when the camera in the dome is a static non ptz camera and does not have the capability to zoom past the obstructing rain sleet or snow /ice.
Some camera have box type housings with flat glass or plastic viewing areas they may be fitted with a window wiper that puts the wiper across the image a number of times a minute and gets the viewing area wet between strokes of the wiper Other ptz cameras or standard cameras may have flat glass or plastic as the viewing area this means that those area can not be used by fisheye / panomorph or 3601 180 degree lenses fitted to cameras because they are only capable of looking straight ahead unlike the 360 fisheye cameras etc. are capable of looking all around but not if the camera or viewing area is flat glass or plastic.
In the spinning dome camera housing any type of camera can be used static cameras can be turned to face different directions, ptz cameras can be used, fisheye type cameras can see all around, this can not be done on any other housing and the image area kept free of obstruction like rain sleet snow and ice.
Spinning cctv dome.
Description. 2
The spinning dome is an invention that allows all types of camera especially cctv cameras and 360 degree fisheye or cameras with panomorph lenses to operate inside a dome and not have the image distorted by rain sleet snow or dust because upon detection of any of these substances landing on a sensor that is on the outside of the camera housing and connected to a motor driven revolving circular transport that the dome is fitted to,applies power to the motor which in turn spins the dome ejecting the substance from the outside of the dome.
A fisheye or 360 degree panoramic lens can not operate inside a standard camera housing or flat glass viewing area because the degree of view would be dramatically reduced and would not view the 360 or 180 degree the lens is made to achieve.
This can only be achieved by either mounting the 360 degree lens outside the flat glass housing or fitting it into a transparent dome shaped housing, the problem is a transparent dome shaped housing is notorious for having problems with rain sleet and snow landing on the viewing area of the dome so the dome is spun at a high speed to drive off the water droplets that have come to rest on the outside area of the transparent dome.
