Abstract

A method of fixing carbon dioxide which is dissolved in water into a carbohydrate and oxygen by using a water receptacle manufactured from plastic and iron/steel. The method relies on the release of energy created by a chemical reaction taking place between the iron/steel and the dissolved carbon dioxide in the water, thereby reducing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. The process is intended to combat global warming. Preferably, the water is floodwater, seawater, estuary water, river water or water obtained from a pond, lake or canal. The method can take place in the absence of light.
