Abstract
Disclosed is a multi position, compactable folding chair with a jointing device located under or adjacent to side sections of the seat platform. The jointing device having a slotted aperture which may terminate in a wider aperture at one or both ends allowing for movement along the length of the aperture. The slot thus allowing the constructional members of the chair to align in a parallel, when the chair is folded for storage. The slots also allows the slide action to facilitate both upright and reclined positions of the back rest when chair is in use.
Description
TOTALLY COMPACT MULTI POSITION FOLDING CHAIR
This invention relates to a totally compact multi position folding chair.
It is known that chairs are manufactured in such a way that they can be folded prior to storage and or for transport. It is also known that chairs are manufactured with mechanisms within the arm rests or in, on or around a lower portion of the rear leg structure to facilitate the action of folding and or adjusting the back rest position.These chairs compact for transport however the current designs of such products does not always provide for maximum compactness during transport or shipping.
According to the present invention there is provided a multi position, totally compactable folding chair which is provided with one or more jointing device(s) Fig 5, located under or adjacent to side sections of the seat platform, Fig 1 members 3 pIus 3,and said jointing device having a slotted aperture which may terminate in a wider aperture at one or both ends allowing for movement within and along the entire length or part of the length of said slotted aperture thereby allowing for the component members of the chair to become fully alligned Fig 3 and said jointing device also providing for pivot and slide action to facilitate both upright and reclined positions of the back rest when chair is in use and by the pivot point of the component parts of the chair being able to slide to different positions within the slotted apperture provided within the jointing devise Fig 5.This innovation allows for greater numbers of chairs to be stacked during tranportation and esepecially for shipping where large financial savings can be realised.
Preffered Options The jointing device(s) Fig 5 may be connected to the underside of the side sections of the chair seat Fig I, 3 plus 3.
A multi position between upright and relaxed seating positions is achieved by the pivot mechanism of the chair being located within the slotted aperture within the jointing device Fig 5 allowing for upright position at one end of the slotted aperture and relaxed postion at the opposite end of the slotted aperture.
