Abstract
249,464. Bregeat, J. H. March 21, 1925, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Materials for purifying gases; scrubbers and washers; purifiers. -The exhaust gases from motors or producers are purified by passage through absorbent liquids or solids which may be regenerated. The gases may be purified in a cylindrical holder A, Fig. 2, entering by a pipe F and passing into a chamber C having serrated edges C<1> dipping into liquid in the base of the holder A and then passing through solid purifying material D resting on a perforated floor D, final purification being obtained by passage through a cylindrical contact filter E. In other forms of apparatus the gases pass through solid absorbing agents coated with agglutinants, e.g. oils, glycerine, tetraline, soap suds, &c. In a modification, the purifying liquid is sprayed in the path of the gases by rotating blades 15, Fig. 8, driven on the motor shaft 14; in another form, the gases pass upwards through a tower packed with absorbent material 13, Fig. 9, moistened by liquid circulated by a pump 16. The solid absorbents used are kiesel-guhr, pumice stone, peat and wood charcoal. Specifications 171,507, 201,119 and 239,744, [Class 90, Non-metallic elements], are referred to.
