Abstract
A putting game of 17 coloured golf balls contained in a clear PVC drawstring bag with instruction card included, describing the rules on how to play the game
Description
POT-PUTT SNOOKER -A putting aid kit for golfers.
Putting plays an important role in the game of golf, but for many junior golfers time spent on the practice putting green can be arduous, as was the case for my thirteen year old son who described putting practice as "akin to practising scales on the piano!" I wanted to find a way of stimulating his interest in putting and increase the time he was prepared to spend on the practice putting green. To this end I have developed POT-PUTT SNOOKER as a method of training young players in the importance of good putting.
POT-PUTT SNOOKER is a kit of parts, a clear PVC drawstring bag containing 17 specifically coloured golf balls (10 Red, I each of: White, Green, Brown, Yellow, Blue, Pink and Black), and an instructions card describing "How to piay POT-PUTT SNOOKER".
The balls are laid out on the putting green next to any chosen hole as shown in Fig. I on the drawing_sheet A, and the game is conducted by 2 to 4 players following the rules described in the instruction sheet provided, see attached "How to play POT-PUTT SNOOKER"on drawing sheet B. The game lasts for 10-15 mins. on average and provides competitive fun and focuses uniquely on the importance of successful putting in order to win the game.
How to play POT-PUTT SNOOKER The rules generally follow those of snooker, set up the balls as shown in Fig.1, placing the balls perpendicular to a hole, with the BLUE ball a clubs length from the hole.
Player 1 begins the game by placing the white Cue ball' a clubs length from the reds and breaks' in order to separate them.
Player 1 must then try to pot a RED ball (1 point) directly with his putter followed by any coloured ball he chooses. If he pots a coloured ball he scores the value of that ball and must replace it before potting another red followed by any colour and so on until he misses a pot'. Then player 2 takes his go. At any point the player can elect to use the white cue' ball to strike another ball in order to move it closer to a hole. If the player does this correctly then he is permitted a second shot, this time directly striking the ball the player wishes to sink.
If a player touches a wrong ball with the cue ball he incurs a penalty to the value of that ball.
When all the reds have been potted the coloured balls must be sunk in the following order...
RED 1 pt. ..YELLOW 2pts, GREEN 3 pts, BROWN 4 pts, BLUE 5 pts, PINK 6 pts, BLACK 7 pts.
The winner is the player with the highest number of points after all the balls have been potted!
