Abstract

A fixed platform 1 upon which an object can be placed to be photographed from multiple angles without the need to move the object. A frame attached to the platform has a camera mount 2, and can be rotated around the platform 1 to take photographs from any point around a circumference of the platform 1. A background panel 3 is attached to the frame directly opposite the camera, so moving with the camera to provide an identical background for each photograph.

Description

Photographic platform with rotating frame.
This piece of apparatus enables the user to take multiple photographs of a subject from different angles without having to move the subject.
The subject is placed on a base, which has a frame which rotates 360 degrees around its circumference. Attached to the frame is a camera. As the frame is rotated, the user can take photographs of the subject from any point of the 360 degree track.
The provision of a removable background panel directly opposite the camera position enables all photographs to have an identical bakground.
BACKGROUND.
This invention is born out of the need to photograph an object (a car in this case, but any object can be applied in the same way) from several different angles in a consistent manner using the minimum of time and manpower. Traditionally this has been done by taking a photograph then moving the object, and repeating the process, which can be very time consuming, and in the case of a large item such as a car, can cause a hazard and disruption when moving it on and of a platform repeatedly.
STATEMENT OF INVENTION.
With this invention, the object to be photographed is placed on the base of the unit, which is fixed in position. The base is not a turntable.. It does not move, nor does the object. The camera is then mounted onto the frame of the unit, so that each picture is taken from a consistent height and angle. The camera bracket may be adjustable to enable a choice of camera positions. The frame of the unit is able to rotate around the circumference of the base. This allows the operator to take one photograph, move the camera to the left or right by a distance of their choosing, take another photograph from the same height and angle, and repeat this process as often as desired.
The unit is further enhanced to provide an identical background for each picture. The background is mounted to the rotating frame directly opposite the camera. As the frame is rotated, the background will rotate as it is mounted to the same frame as the camera, so the view will remain identical, giving the impression that the object itself had been rotated in front of a fixed backdrop.
ADVANTAGES.
The result would be a number of consistent photographs of the object from a variety of positions around 360 degrees within a very short period of time.
Pictures are provided to demonstrate the invention. I refer initially to page 1 of 2.
Figure 1 shows the apparatus. (1) is the fixed platform. The object to be photographed is placed onto the fixed platform (1). The camera is mounted onto the frame (2) which can rotate in either direction to allow photographs to be taken of the object from an infinite number of angles.
The optional background panel (3) is attached to the same frame of the camera, so that, when turned it will always remain opposite the camera, thus providing an identical background for every photograph. The inclusion of a company name or logo (4)on the background panel is possible.
I now referto page2of2.
The page is divided into 3 Figures, marked as fig 2, 3 and 4.
Each individual figure shows an overhead view of the apparatus on the left hand side, and the resulting photo on the right hand side. Using fig 21 as an example; the object to be photographed is placed on the fixed base (1). In this case we have used a box, with the sides marked a.b,c and d. The camera is mounted on the frame (2) and the photograph is taken. The resultant photograph is shown on the right hand picture. This view will show the side of the box marked b' and the background panel (3) incorporating a logo (4).
In figure 3, the frame incorporating the camera and background have been rotated 180 degrees so the image is identical, but now shows the side of the box marked d'. In figure 4 the frame has now been rotated 90 degrees to the right, so the photograph will be of the side of the box marked a' again with an identical background to the two previous images.
The frame can be stopped in an infinite number of positions around the 360 degrees, and each photo taken in whatever position will have an
identical background.
The result is a consistent and professional set of images showing a variety of angles of the object, with the minimum amount of manpower.
