Abstract

A rocking crib comprises a cot 5 arranged to pivot from a fulcrum 1 and that preferably swings in a longitudinal direction. The crib is mounted on a stand 4 using pegs and peg locators and may comprise a locking pin 3 to prevent movement. The crib may be provided with a motorised cog system to provide the rocking motion.

Description

Rocking Crib This invention relates to a crib that rocks longitudinally to and fro, naturally and in a controlled manner from a fulcrum. Cribs thus far have not been designed to rock from a fulcrum; the natural motion of rocking mimics cradling a baby and rocking it in ones' arms to and fro'. This invention captures the rocking motion most natural to baby by pivoting from a fulcrum. The crib is mounted on a secure stand using pegs and peg locators as the pivot point.

The invention proposes that a crib be constructed in such a manner that the rocking motion is longitudinal) natural and calming to the occupant of the crib. Using a fulcrum and pivot locators this can be achieved.

The advantage of the rocking crib will assist new born and young babies to have a good sleep or to relax feeling calmed whilst in the unit. The crib can be motorised with a simple cog system with the option of having a lullaby played to baby.

An example of the rocking crib is shown in the accompanying drawings.

Figure 1 shows a rocking crib at the extent of its motion or swing) extent of swing governed by the height of the infill panel between the leg supports) as shown in Figure3.

Figure 2 shows the rocking crib in a stationary or static position held in position with two simple peg inserts.

A baby sized cot S is manufactured and seated or rested on a three part stand 4 and 6. The cot pivots on two pegs 1 and without the pins 3 in position can swing to and fro' longitudinally. The extent of its swing is restricted by the correct height positioning of 6 as shown in Figure 3. The cot can be made stationary and in a fixed position by simply inserting the pegs 3 into their pre drilled housings 2. The rocking motion of the crib can be replicated across many designs and crib type objects using the pivotal longitudinal rocking crib system we have invented.
