Abstract

An accessory for use when applying makeup comprises first and second ends spaced by an elongate body. The first end has a concave shape, and the second end defines an aperture adapted to engage with a makeup applying pencil (see figure 2), or with the thumb of a user who is holding the makeup applying pencil (see figure 3). During use, the concave first end is placed in contact with the face to which makeup is being applied, and the thumb of the user or the makeup pencil is inserted into the aperture of the second end, such that the device assists in steadying or supporting the makeup applying pencil and/or the hand of the user holding the makeup pencil. The aperture preferably defines a bore having a longitudinal axis which lies between the longitudinal and transverse axes of the accessory. The concave first end preferably comprises a non-slip surface (see figure 6). The device is intended to be used with an eyeliner pencil, and assists in allowing a steady arc of makeup to be applied to the eye area.

Description

DESCRIPTION
This invention relates to a makeup accessory (Figi). It is designed to help the user when putting on make-up, especially eye makeup. It is designed to be placed between the item of make-up and the user's face. The device is either placed on the item of makeup itself or on the user's thumb. In both cases, the device bridges the gap between the face and the hand applying the makeup, providing support and steady application.
Traditionally when applying eye makeup a person will hold their eyeliner between their thumb and finger, in rather the same way that they hold a pen to write. However, if the makeup is applied in a hurry, or on the move, the hand can easily be jogged or jolted. This can lead to smudged makeup, or even worse, an injury to the eye if the pencil slips. In spite of this risk, many people still chose to do their makeup on the go, for example in a taxi, on a train or as a passenger in a car. So this accessory is designed to minimise their chances of getting ruined makeup or eye injuries.
This invention, bridges the gap between the face and the hand applying the eyeliner pencil. It can be designed to attach to either the eyeliner pencil (Fig 2) OR to the thumb of the holding the pencil (Fig 3). The device is attached via the angled hole in the bottom (Fig 4).
Once attached the user holds the eyeliner between their thumb and finger as usual. But then the user presses the accessory against their face (Fig 5). Whether this is attached to the pencil or to their thumb, the pressure on the accessory provides a steady support. Then, rather like the way a set of compasses allows a steady arc to be drawn on paper, this device allows a steady arc of makeup to be applied to the eye area. The concaved shape of the top of the device is covered with non-slip surface which aids the user further by reducing the likelihood of jolting or slipping. (fig 6) Therefore if a person uses this device they should be able to apply makeup safely and precisely, even when on the go.
The simplicity of this design means anybody can use the accessory regardless of their ability. It also can be used anywhere as it lightweight and small. The accessory would be cheap to manufacture lead ing to an affordable final product. 1.
