Abstract
249,016. La Porte, A. J. A. de. Aug. 29, 1925. Electrolytes are formed by dissolving ammoniaalum in dilute sulphuric acid. Two examples are given, viz. :-(a) 16 kilos sulphuric acid, specific gravity 1.835, 30 litres distilled water and 2.5 kilos ammonia alum and (b) 25 kilos sulphuric acid, specific gravity 1.835-1.837, 80 litres distilled water and 5 kilos ammonia alum. A colouring matter-e.g. 0.1 grm. methylene blue-may be added. A sulphated accumulator may be rendered usable again by washing the plates with distilled water and then using this electrolyte.
