Abstract

Compound blocks; flooring blocks.-A building or flooring block comprises a number of tubular bodies embedded in a composition and strengthened by metal reinforcement laced or threaded round the tubes at different levels. Fig. 2 shows a plan of a wall block in which tubes A of earthenware or other suitable material, which may be circular, polygonal, or oval in cross section, are embedded in coke breeze, plaster of Paris, sawdust, or any other suitable material or mixture of materials. Metal rods c are looped round the tubes to form reinforcements, as shown, at as many different levels as is desirable for the particular use to which the blocks are to be put. Lateral reinforcements D may also be used. When in position, the tubes are in alignment, thus forming channels throughout the height of the wall and facilitating the employment of long reinforcing rods passing from the top to the bottom of the building.
