Abstract

248,861. Baker & Sons, Ltd., F., and Clarkson, F. C. Dec. 18, 1924. Converting pulsating currents into steady continuous currents. - To minimize commutator ripple direct-current supply mains 3, 4 are connected to the high-tension terminals of wireless apparatus through leads 1, 2 which have condensers connected across them, choke coils 7, 8 being arranged in one or both of the leads and a variable shunt resistance 11 being provided across the leads on the output side of the choke coils. In the arrangement shown two condensers 5, 10 are inserted in parallel across the leads on the input side of the choke coils, an incandescent lamp or Neon tube 9 being arranged in one or each lead between the two condensers. A third condenser 6 is arranged across the leads between the choke coils and the shunt resistance 11. The shunt resistance may be varied by a slide 12. One or more other sliders 14, 15 adjustable over the resistance may be employed. A condenser 18 may be arranged in the earth connection from the wireless set. Specification 248,862 is referred to in each Provisional Specification and one of the Provisional Specifications describes 3 modification in which the position lead has a resistance in series at its output end and is provided with adjustable tappings for the hightension voltages of the set.
