Abstract

A hair washing basin or sink for use when washing long hair. The basin has an elongated section of the side wall 2 that extends upwards from the rim of the basin wall, and forms a lip 1 at the upper section to support a userâ s head and neck. In use the hair lies along the elongated section 2, and water runs from the upper hose or taps 5 to the drain 3 along the length of the hair. This allows the hair to extend to its full length when being washed. The probability of the hair becoming tangled is reduced.

Description

Hair basin This invention relates to a basin for treating longer hair. When treating longer hair in a hair salon using a traditional basin it often becomes tangled and gets into the drain. This causes damage to hair, makes it more difficult for a hairdresser to treat, and leads to an unpleasant, stressful experience for their client.
To overcome the aforementioned issues, the present invention proposes a special basin with an elongated, curved back wall that rises at an angle forming a lip to the top section. This will allow the longer hair to be treated and flow freely while remaining fully straight rather than being forced into a smaller area like in a traditional hair basin.
The basin for treating longer hair will allow hair to be washed all the way through without getting tangled or running down into the drain of the basin and blocking it.
Preferably, the basin is fitted with a flexible shower hose.
Preferably, the basin has adjustable legs to adapt the height of the basin to fit with any high
comfortable chair.
Preferably, the top part of the basin (where the neck and head rest) would have a soft supportive surface mat.
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawing: * Figure 1 shows a traditional hair basin; and * Figure 2 shows the proposed waterfall basin for treating longer hair.
The present invention is for a hair basin to treat longer hair as depicted in Figure 2.
The basin body (Figure 2) is preferably a single piece of construction and may be formed from conventional materials such as moulded or formed stainless steel, enamel over steel or cast iron, ceramic, acrylic, porcelain, glass, granite, marble, powder-coated metal, appropriate plastic or polymer, such as polyethylene or polypropylene.
The basin is fitted with items such as a flexible shower hose and tap(s) (5). The elongated, curved back wall (2) allows the water to run straight down to the standard water drain (3) situated below, and provides the hairdresser with more space to treat the hair as it is being washed. This wall takes the form of a slope which is slightly concave in nature which, along with the walls on both sides (4), prevent the water from running over the sides or splashing out.
The area for supporting the head and neck (1) also differs from the original basin in Figure 1 as it provides more support to the head, thus removing pressure from the neck.
