A ball type castor having an electric motor engaging with the main load carrying ball giving directional, controllable movement to the item the castor is mounted to.

powered omniball DesriptOiofl The powered Omniball is a new revelation in the design of omnidirectional self aligning powered castor ball. This is a unique, and unrivalled design which allows an object mounted on the powered Omniball to be effortlessly and accurately guided into position. The powered omniball is unlike any traditional castor as it is mounted on a ball this giving a smoother transition when changing from one direction to another coupled with the variable powered gear motor drive makes this a whole new concept in the world of castors.
The gear motor is mounted on a horizontal bearing and orbits the castor ball around its vertical axis, the motor drives a convex radius wheel made from polyurethane which is in direct contact with the surface of the castor ball and thus allows the motor to rotate around the ball giving it direction.
The powered Directional powered Omniball uses the same internal components as the powered omniball with the addition of a indexing stepper motor connected on the vertical axis to the main body thus giving precision directional control. This control is special designed for application such as robotic work stations, electric wheel chairs,r when used in the ball up position programmable (via use of a PC) ball tables and directional conveyor system
