Abstract

The invention relates to a flood protection valve fitted to existing waste pipework which prevents flooding of properties. The valve comprises a chamber, preferably of a hardwearing durable material, with a circular floating valve E contained within. The chamber has upper and a lower openings A. The top opening has a rubber seal F with a curve the same diameter as the floating circular valve. The chamber has a slant G at the top to direct the floating circular valve into a lower side recess B as water recedes. The bottom slanted side recess ensures that the floating circular valve moves out of the down pipe to allow water to drain away to one side of the down pipe opening. A drain C is attached between the slanted side recess and the down pipe to ensure any excess water in the side recess is drained out.

Description

DESCRIPTION: We Pipe Flood Protector Valve Chamber" This invention relates to protecting property from flooding.
With flooding in the UK becoming more and more prevalent, there is the frequent issue of flooding through pipes and toilets.
To overcome this, present invention proposes that when fitted properly and permanently to the existing pipe work in homes at risk or potential risk of flooding it will prevent the ingress of any types of flood water into a property via the pipe work.
The waste pipe flood protector valve chamber is a single piece unit with openings top and bottom to attach chamber to existing pipe work and a free floating circular valve of indeterminate size contained inside it, which is fitted onto existing pipe work to prevent flooding of properties through pipe work.
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying diagrams.
Fjgqrei: Shows the single view of the waste pipe flood protector valve chamber, made of hardwearing durable waterproof material containing openings (a) top and bottom both fitted with waterproof, hardwearing seals (f). Slant at top (g) to encourage ball (e) into lower slant (b) as water recedes. Recess by downpipe (b) to ensure circular valve (e) moves away from the down pipe.
brain hole/pipe (c) for excess water to go back out to the drain via the downpipe. Slant (d) to chamber to ensure valve is pushed to the recess opposite (b) fjgw'e 2: Shows the single view of the waste pipe flood protector valve chamber, in use during a flood. The flood water has come through the lower opening (a) and the circular valve (e) has risen from its' resting position in the lower slant (b). The circular valve (e) is now in place against the water proof seal (f) to prevent flood water from entering the rest of the pipe.
Figure 3: Shows the single view of the waste pipe flood protector valve chamber, when it is not in use after flooding and during normal water levels. As the flood water recedes through the down pipe (a), the circular valve (e) comes away from the water proof seal (f) and goes down towards the down pipe opening (a) with the flood water. The slant (d) to the side of the down pipe (a) ensures the circular valve (e) doesn't get stuck in the down pipe (a) but is pushed over to the recess (b) where the circular valve (e) rests when not in use. Between the recess (b) and the down pipe on the outside of the chamber casing is the drain hole (c) which ensures any excess water in the recess goes to the down pipe.
A construction of a single unit made from an outer casing of hardwearing, durable, water proof material with openings top and bottom (a) to attach to existing pipe work. The openings (a) will have a water proof seal (f) attached to ensure water tightness.
At the top by there will be a slant (g) to encourage the circular valve Cd) toward the lower slant (b) as water recedes. At the bottom of the unit on one side of the down pipe attachment will be a slanted recess (b) to ensure the floating circular valve (e) does not get caught in the down pipe. Attached from the slanted recess in the chamber to the down pipe will be a drain pipe Cc) to ensure excess water goes back out to the drain. On the other side of the down pipe attachment there will be a slant to the chamber (d) to push the valve to the slanted recess (b). There will be a free floating circular valve of indeterminate size and made of a hard wearing, water proof, buoyant material Ce). The chamber will work with the flood water, as the water rises so will the floating circular valve (e) being carried to the top of the chamber (a) forming a seal as the water is pushed against the valve, preventing flood water of any type from coming up through the pipe work.
