Abstract

A novelty article 60 comprises a housing 61 having a first compartment 63 with a filling 65 of liquid which contains pieces 66 of solid material able to be dispersed in the filling in temporary suspension by shaking of the housing and a second compartment 68 separated from the first compartment 63 by a partition 64a defining at least one light transmission path for transmission of light from the second compartment 68 to the first compartment 63. A base member 64 is attached to body 62 in a liquid-tight manner to form the housing 61. A lighting unit is arranged in the second compartment 68 and comprises a light source 69 and activating means 73 for activating the light source 69 to emit light for a limited time interval. The activating means is connected or connectible with a source 75 of electrical power and so operable by the movement of the housing 61 for producing the suspension of the pieces 66 in the liquid filling 65 as to permit supply of electrical power from the power source 75 to the light source 29 for activation thereof. An image-bearing panel 67, a statue, model or the like is disposed in the first compartment.
