Abstract

A flue coupling joint comprises a stepped diameter tube that connects a stove pipe to a chimney liner, where a plate is permanently fixed to the tube to enable the unit to be attached to a chimney closure plate K . Preferably, the coupling joint is attached to the chimney liner by means of a circular clamp E . The attached plate may be fitted to the chimney closure plate by means of nuts and bolts J . Preferably, the coupling joint is attached to the stove pipe by means of clamping bolts D . In use, the flue coupling joint and supporting plate is designed to join a stove pipe directly to a chimney liner without the need for multiple adapters.

Background

This invention relates to a plate to close off a chimney and support a flue liner When a wood, multifuel, or gas stove is fined it is a requirement to close off the chimney at the lower end and support any liner which may be fitted so that the stove pipe is able to form a continuous sealed flue to the atmosphere

Statement of invention

To facilitate this the proposed invention is a metal plate that fixes to the sides of the chimney with collars top and bottom to receive the liner and stove pipe which can be sealed to the collars the closure assembly is manufactured in two units which bolt together Advantages This is a simple to install device which allows stoves to be fined without the need for multiple adapters being required to match the liner and stove pipe, as it is in two bolt together units it gives the installer more room to install in confined spaces also whilst fitting it limits the amount of debris entering the room Drawings The accompanying drawing shows the manufacture of the adapter and assembly of the two part assembly.

Detailed description

The closure plate is manufactured in steel plate and can be made to measure or universal If made to measure it comprises of metal plate made to fit the chimney aperture it has flanged down sides with holes to enable it to be fixed to the chimney walls it has a hole to accept the collard plate If universal it is a metal plate with a hole to accept the collard plate it has no flanged down sides but is fixed my means of angled brackets the plate would be cut to size by the installer both varieties have studs protruding downwards to accept the collard plate The collard plate consists of a metal plate with a hole to allow the vacuation of flue gasses, round this hole and on the top of the plate circular collar is welded to receive the flue liner, round the collar is a circular clamp to secure the flue liner.

Claims (4)

1. Claims 1) A coupling joint comprising of a stepped diameter tube that connects a stove pipe to a chimney liner, a plate permanently fixed to the tube to enable the unit to be attached to the chimney closure plate.
2. 2) A coupling joint according to claim 1 in which the joint is attached to the Chimney liner by means of a circular clamp.
3. 3) A coupling joint according to claim 1 in which the attached plate is fitted to the Chimney closure plate by means of nuts arid bolts.
