Abstract
A multifunctional exercise apparatus comprising a platform and means to attach a variety of pieces of exercise equipment to the platform. The platform may have a plurality of moulded channels 5 on its underside for attaching devices such as legs 3 for the platform, lateral or longitudinal convex supports or a semi spherical support to allow it to rock. There may also be fixtures 2 around the edge of the device to facilitate the attachment of resistance bands. There may be a cushioned cover for the top and non slit surfaces may be used. The device is designed to be portable and easily stored.
Description
Multistep Exercise System -Statement
This invention relates to a multifunctional exercise equipment system.
Many people choose to exercise at home rather than go to the gym. Perceived barriers to visiting the gym include cost, time and travel. Most home exercise equipment is either bulky in size or will only exercise limited muscle types. To overcome this, the Multistep enables a person to train many muscles at once, can provide aerobic activity, strengthen core muscles and provide large muscle development. It is also of a size that is convenient to keep in the home. Multi-positional legs/handles give the user many various exercises with variable levels of difficulty.
The Multistep Exercise System can potentially replace the need for a number of separate exercise devices such as; swissball, step, push up bars, mat, bench and weights, thus saving the user money and space within the home. Also the Multistep is light weight and can be taken from location to location by the user or personal trainers instead of carrying vast amounts of equipment, giving them more time and use of a variety of transport.
The invention will now be described solely by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows the Multistep in its step form.
Figure 2 shows the Multistep in its convex lateral movement form.
Figure 3 shows the Multistep with the half-ball attachment for combination of both lateral and longitudinal movement.
Figure 4 shows the Multistep in mat form, with resistance bands attached.
Figure 5 shows the Multistep's platform with a soft cover to sit or lay upon.
Figure 6 shows the Multistep in its inverted state with leg attachments that have integrated hand supports.
Figure 7 shows the Multistep in its longitudinal rocking movement form.
Figure 8 shows the Multistep's soft covet Figure 9 shows the Multistep in its bench form with soft cover on.
The platform 1, figure 1 has a top side and a underneath 14, figure 6. The underneath 14, has various channels 5, figure 6, in which the legs 3, figure 6, slot, forming a step when it is upright, figure 1 to perform aerobic exercises. The legs 3 have rubber feet 6, figure 1, to reduce slipping. The legs 3 house integrated handles 4, figure 1, to be used as push-up bars and hand supports, when the platform 1 is inverted, figure 6.
This configuration allows for exercises such as wide and narrow grip push-ups, dips and abdominal leg holds for upper body and core work outs.
The convex members 7, figure 7, have a rubber track 8, figure 7, to reduce slipping.
The convex members 7 fit underneath the main board 14 using various slots 5. The convex members can fit into the slots 5 along the lateral plane of the platform 1, figure 7, so that the platform 1 moves in a longitudinal motion. The convex members 7 can be fitted into slots S along the lateral plane of the platform 1, figure 2, so the platform 1 moves in a lateral motion. In both cases, this creates inherent instability in the platform 1, so that the user uses flexion/extension/abduction of various core muscles in order to overcome this.
The platform 1 has bars on all sides 2, figure 1, to attach resistance bands 11, figure 4, to perform upper body exercise, e.g. bicep curls, tricep extensions, tricep kickbacks, bench press, chest cross overs, shoulder press, shoulder lateral raises, upwards rows, seated rows and lower body exercises e.g. calf raises, leg extensions, leg abductions and squats. The resistance bands 11 have handles 12, figure 4, for increased comfort. You can use the platform 1, with it's top cover 13, figure 8, giving additional comfort when performing additional exercises that require the platform 1 to be used as a exercise mat, figure 5 or as a exercise bench, figure 9.
Figure 3 shows the platform 1 with the half-ball attachment 9 which fits to the platform 1 via the central receptor 15, figure 6. The half-ball allows the platform 1 to move freely in both the longitudinal and lateral planes at the same time. This increased instability adds more difficulty and thus more exercise potential for the useii The half-ball has a rubber bottom 10, figure 3, to reduce slipping.
