Abstract

The film comprises a substrate 1, a barrier layer 2 and a metal layer 3. The barrier layer prevents migration of components which hinder adhesion. Both sides of this multi-layer film may be further coated 4, 5 with a material similar to the barrier layer. Preferably the substrate 1 is a cellulose diacetate (derivative). The barrier 2 and similar layers 4, 5 are preferably an addition polymer, or silicon, halogen or organo-metallic based material, especially an acrylate ester, in particular electron flux (plasma) cured tripropylene glycol diacrylate or isobornyl acrylate. The metal layer 3 is preferably thermally evaporated aluminium. The film may be used as a packaging carton.
