Description

ldiyappam Making Machine
Description
The ldiyappam making machine is a mechanical device to prepare several different kinds of traditional foods including idiyappam mainly consumed by South Asian people. The machine is designed to suite well for the modern day kitchen and ease of operation and cleaning in mind.
Background of the invention
"ldiyappam" isa kind of traditional food which is widely used by people in South Asian countries such as India, Sri Lanka, South East Asian countries such as Malaysia, Singapore and for their breakfast or for lunch or even for dinner. It also been served for the guests as a special food in their special ceremonies and for patients or people are with diet control.
ldiyappam is made of various kind of flour mix such as wheat flour, rice flour and this flour mix dough is pressed through a number of small holes which makes the flour dough as strings Currently most of the people are using conventional hand operated equipment which is made of wood and bronze sheet metal with holes fixed at the bottom of the wooden equipment.
People face following problems with above said conventional equipment.
* Very hard to press the flour dough. (mention the force need * Difficult to make in big volume.
* Need to make one by one.
This ldiyappam making machine eliminates all the above said disadvantages and provides people with a great solution for their food life style who like to live their own traditional way.
Product summary
This ldiyappam making machine has a cylindrical barrel to contain the dough mixture, a piston to press the dough mixture within the barrel through a extrusion disc with small holes, a ram to move the piston up and down, a gear system to ease the operation, a handle to operate the machine, eight gears to transfer the force, four shafts to transfer the force and rotating tray to catch the ldiyappam.
All the above parts are mounted in a base structure and the structure will be placed on a table and hold tightly by means four suction cups.
ln this machine the rotating tray and the piston will be operated simultaneously by turning the handle.
Advantages of this machine: * The removable cylindrical barrel will ease the reloading of the dough.
* The volume of the barrel enables to make up to eight to twelve ldiyappam with a single loading.
* Rotating food tray will catch the extruded dough in a circular manner and form a uniform shape of each ldiyappam.
I
* Different shapes of extrusion discs helps to make different shape of food.
* Very minimum force is required to operate due to the gear system.
* All materials selected for external parts are food grade.
* Hassle free maintenance.
* No electric power is needed.
* Easy attachment and removal on the table with the help of suction cups.

3) Handle shaft 6, bevel gear 17, spur gear (1) 19, are fixed with the mast in horizontal manner within bushings 7 and housing 13.
4) The spur gear 19 and the spur gear 20 will mesh together with 2:1 gear ratio which will ease the operation with load.
5) A ram 9 meshing the spur gear 21 is vertically inserted through a guiding slot of the mast 26.
6) A piston 25 is attached to the ram 9 by means of thread with can be easily assembled and removed by the user, 7) A drive gear 39 is attached to the lower end of the vertical shaft 14.
8) A driven gear 37 is attached to the bottom end of the shaft 44 which is inserted through the bottom stand 27.
9) A counter gear 38 is attached to the bottom stand 27 and linking the gears 39 and 37.
10) The removable rotating base 29 is attached to the top end of the shaft 44.
11) A circular shaped food tray 28 will be placed on the rotating base 29.
12) A removable barrel 30 is attached to the mast 26 by means of the attaching point 45 and detachable locking pin 24.
13) A desired food extrusion disc form 31,32,33,34 will be placed in the barrel cap 35 and will be fixed with the barrel 30 by means of thread.
14) A handle Swill be attached to the outer end of the handle shaft 6.
15) All the above parts are covered at the top by covers 15 and 8 and at the bottom by cover 40 by means of threads and self locking systems.
16) Suction cups 41 are attached to the bottom cover 40 to hold entire machine with the table.
17) User will place the dough mix in the barrel 30 and turn the handle 5.
18) While the handle 5 is being rotated he spur gear 19 will rotate the spur gear 20, then the gear 20 will rotate the gear 21.
19) The gear 21 will move the ram 9 downwards which will move the piston 25 to press the dough mix in the barrel 30.
20) ln the other side while the handle 5 is being turned the bevel gear 20 will turn the bevel gear 11 and the gear 11 will turn the vertical shaft 14.
21) As the drive gear 39 is attached to the vertical shaft 14 it will turn the counter gear 38 and the driven gear 37.
22) Driven gear 37 will turn the shaft 44 and then the shaft 44 will turn the rotator base 29 and food tray 28.
23) The extruded food through the disc 31 or 32 or 33 or 34 will be collected on the rotating food tray 28 in a circular design. Note
Even though all the functions has been described above, obviously it can be recognized and understood that various modifications such as adding an electric motor and/or adding multiple rotating trays can be made therein and the appended claims are intended to cover all such modifications which may fall within the concept and scope of the invention.
