Abstract

A paper folding device comprises a flat, elongate member having a recessed channel 4 on the upper surface of the elongate member and elevated guides 2 positioned above and adjacent to the channel 4. The device has stop blocks 10 positioned within the channel 4 to aid positioning of the paper. The underside of the elevated guides 2 comprise sloped ribs. The paper folding device may be in the form of a ruler with measurements and straight edges for drawing straight lines. The device is used for accurately folding paper so that it fits into an envelope.

Description

Combined Paper Folder &StationetyRuler Baclçgnjund This invention relates to a stationery ruler, which can also be used as a guide for accurately and quickly folding A4 sized sheetls of paper into DIJZ, AS or A6 sized documents.
Folding an A4 sheet of paper into DLJZ sized documents can be difficult to achieve accurately, and also time consuming.
In order to create an accurate DIJZ size document, an A4 sheet of paper must be folded across its width into three equal portions. If an A4 sheet of paper is not folded accurately, it may fit into a DL sized envelope, but it Will not be in equal portions (three thirds) and this could mean the folded sheet needs to be re-folded in order to make it fit the envelope and/or display the address on the document behind the envelope window precisely.
Paper that has been incorrectly folded and subsequently re-folded, causes unsightly and unnecessary crease lines which in turn, results in a poorly presented, unprofessional document.
Staternept of Invention To overcome this, the present invention proposes a combined stationery ruler, which can also be used as a guide for accurately folding A4 sheets of paper into DL/Z, AS or A6 sized documents. The combined ruler comprises of specifically dimensioned guides, which when used in conjunction with one another are equal in measurement to one third of the length of an A4 sheet of paper. The guides are accurately positioned adjacent to a recess channel. The recess channel is specifically dimensioned for the purpose of accommodating numerous amounts of A4 sheets of paper. By using the fixed guides in conjunction with the recess channel, A4 sheetls of paper can be precisely positioned adjacent to the ruler guides which, enables the user to rely upon the fixed measurement of the guides, thus providing a reliable method for folding paper in to precisely sized documents which are compatible with DLJZ, C5 or C6 size envelopes.
Advantaga The present invention has the following advantages: I. The combined paper folder and stationery ruler can be used as a reliable method for folding A4 paper into accurately formed DIIJZ, A5 or A6 sized documents, which are compatible with DL, CS or C6 sized envelopes.
2. The combined paper folder and stationery ruler can be used for accurately folding numerous sheets of A4 paper into DL/Z, AS and A6 sized documents at one time.
3. The combined paper folder and stationery ruler can be used as a typical ruler for the purpose of drawing straight lines and measuring etc. 1.

Detailed Description
According to the present invention, there is provided a combined paper folding stationery ruler (1) Figure 2. The combined ruler (I) Figure 2 has elevated guides, (2) which are located on an outer face surface of the ruler (3). The combined stationery ruler also has stop blocks (10), which are located adjacent to the ruler guides. The purpose of the stop blocks is to ensure that the paper is correctly positioned whilst being folded in to DL, Z, A6 and AS size documents. The combined ruler (I) also has a specifically dimensioned recess channel (4) which is located beneath the ruler guides (2) for the purpose of accommodating A4 sized paper (5) Figure 3. The guides (2) are specifically dimensioned for the purpose of providing a fixed measurement to assist in the ease of accurately and quickly folding A4 sheets of paper into recognised, universal standard sized documents. The combined stationery ruler can be used for folding A4 paper in to document sizes such as DL (6) Figure 6, A6 (7) Figure 10 and AS (8) Figures 13 and 38. This is achieved by placing A4 size paper (5) Figure 3 into the recess channel (4) Figure 2 of the ruler (I). The recess channel (4) is specifically located adjacent to the guides (2) therefore ensuring that the paper is located correctly in position whilst being folded over the guides (2) Figures 4 & 5 enabling accurately folded DJJZ (6) Figure 34, or A6 (7) Figure 10 and AS (8) Figure (13) sized documents to be created. The combined ruler (I) Figure (2) enables the user to create numerous amounts of accurately folded DL/Z (6) Figure 34 and AS (8) Figure 13 sized documents at one time by relying upon the fixed measurements of the guides (2) Figure 1. The combined ruler (I) Figure 25 has sloped ribs (9) which are located beneath the ruler guides (2). The purpose of the sloped ribs (9) is to ensure that the paper can be guided accurately and easily in to the recess channel (4) Figures 26 and 29. By inserting the paper beneath the sloped ribs (9) Figures 28 and 29 the paper is forced to bend around the base sides of the ribs, resulting in the paper being held securely within the recess channel (4) Figure 3 whilst being folded. The combined paper folder and stationery ruler (I) Figure 2 can also be used as a typical ruler for the purpose of drawing straight lines and measuring etc.
