Abstract
An anti-pinch stroller frame assembly comprises: a handle unit (2, figure 1) having a side tube 20 that has a lower end portion 201, the lower end portion having a bottom end 2011; a rear leg unit (3) having a rear leg (30) that is adapted to be connected to a wheel (6) and that is connected movably to the side tube; and a resiliently biased leg-abutting block 10 mounted slidably on the lower end portion of the side tube, protruding outwardly and downwardly from the bottom end of the lower end portion of the side tube, and abutting constantly and resiliently against the rear leg so as to prevent formation of a gap between the leg-abutting block and the rear leg. The movable connection between the side tube and the rear leg may be made by a spring biased positioner 14 engaging with a plate 15 on the rear leg. The resiliently biased leg-abutting block is intended to prevent a childâ s finger from being accidentally pinched between the side tube and rear leg.
Description
ATX-PINCH STROLLER FRAME ASSEMBLY
The invention relates to an anti-pinch stroller frame assembly, particularly to an anti-pinch stroller frame assembly having a resiliently biased leg-a}utting block mounted movably on a handle unit and abutting constantly against a rear leg unit of the stroller frame asseuibly A conventional stroller normally includes a handle unit, an armrest unit, and a leg unit adapted to be connected to a wheel unit. The handle unit is pivoted to the armrest unit and includes two opposite side tubes and two spring-biased positioners mounted movably on lower ends of the side tubes, respectively. The leg unit is pivoted to the armrest unit and includes two opposite rear legs that are connected to the positioners through twO interconnecting plates, respectively, so that the handle unit can be positioned to avoid from being rotated relative to the armrest unit, The interconnectingplates engage the positioners in a tongue-and-groove engaging manner, respectively, and can be disengaged from the positioners by moving the p.ositioners upwardly along the side tubes. As a result of the connection between the handle unit and the rear leg unit1 the lower ends of the side tubes are disposed adjacent to the rear legs, and a gap is formed between each of the lower ends of the side tubes and a respective one of the rear legs.
Since the height of the gap may be undesirably reduced due to slightly relative movement between the handle unit and the leg unit during the use of the stroller, child's finger may be accidentally pinched in the gap.
Hence, there is a need to prevent the aforementioned pinching from occurring during strolling.
Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide an anti-pinch stroller frame assembly that can overcome the aforesaid drawback associated with the
prior art.
According to this invention, there is provided an anti-pinch stroller frame assenibly that comprises: a handle unit having a side tube that has a lower end portion, the lower end portion having a bottom end; a rear leg unit having a rear leg that is adapted to be connected to a wheel and that is connected to the side tube; and aresilientlybiasedleg-abuttingblackmountedmovably on the lower end portion of the side tube, protruding outwardly and downwardly from the bottom end of the lower end portion of the side tube, and abutting constantly and resiliently against the rear leq so as to prevent formation of a gap between the leg-abutting block and the rear leg.

S Figs lto7 illustrate the firstpreferredembodimerit of an anti-pinch stro1lr frame assembly according to the present invention, Referring to Figs. 5 and 7, in combination with Fig. 1, the anti-pinch stroller frame assembly includes a handle unit 2, a front leg unit 71, an armrest unit 72, a rear leg unit 3, two resiliently biased leg-abutting blocks 10, two resiliently biased pos±tiOners 14, two interconnecting plates 15, two connecting pins 41, two spring-positioning seats 12, two block-biasing members 15' 122, two positioner-biasing members 51, two spring-pressing blocks 52, and two connecting shafts 53. The handle unit 2 has two opposite side tubes 20 that have lower end portions 201, respectively. Each of the lower end portions 201 has a bottom end 2011.
The rear leg unit 3 has two opposite rear legs 30 that are connected to two opposite wheels 6 and that are connectedtothesjdetubes2Q respectively. The handle unit 2 is pivoted to the armrest unit 72. The front leg unit 71 and the rear leg unit 3 are pivoted to the armrest unit 72 through a pair of pivot plates 73, Since the anti-pinch stro1lr frame assembly has a symmetric structure, Only one of the side tubes 20, one of the rear legs 30, one of the leg-abutting blocks 10, one of the positioners 14, one of the interconnecting plates 15, one of the connecting pins 41, one of the spring-positioning seats 121, one of the block-biasing members 122, one of the positioner-biasing members 51, one of the spring-pressing blocks 52, and one of the connecting shafts 53 which are sociated with one another are described below for the sake of brevity and simplicity.
The leg-sbutting block 10 is mounted movably on the lower end portion 201 of the side tube 20, protrudes outwardly and downwardly from the bottom end 2011 of the lower end portion 201 of the side tube 20, and abuts constantly and resiliently against the rear leg 30 (see IS Fig. 3) so as to prevent formation of a gap between the leg'-abutt±ng block 10 and the rear leg 30.
The spring-positioning seat 12 is mounted securely in the lower end portion 201 of the side tube 20 The block-biasing member 122 is disposed between and abuts against the spring-positioning seat 12 and the leg-abutting block 10 so as to constantly urge the leg-abutting block 10 to abut against the rear leg 30 The spring-positioning seat 12 has a bottom protrusion 1212. The leg-abutting block 10 has a hollow top portion 11. that is disposed in the lower end portion 201 of the side tube 20 and that defines a top recess 112, The block-biasing member 122 is in the form of a coil spring having one end sleeved on the bottom protrusion 1212 and the other end received in the top recess 112.
The top portion 11 of the leg-abutting block 10 is S formed with two opposite elongate first slots 1120. The lower end portion 201 of the side tube 20 is formed with two opposite circular positioning holes 212. A connecting pin 41 extends through the positioning holes 212 and the first slots 1120 so as to mount the leg-ahuttingblock 10 to the side tube 30 arid to permit movement of the leg-abutting block 10 relative to the side tube 30 and the connecting pin 41.
The interconnecting plate 15 is connected to the rear leg 30. The positioner 14 is mounted movably on the lower end portion 20]. of the side tube 20 and is urged by the positioner-i±as±ng member 51 to engage releasably the interconnecting plate 15 in a tongue-and-groove engaginginanner. The spring-positioning seat 12 further has a spring housing 121 that is secured to the side tube 20 through a rivet 55, that defines a chamber 1215 therein, and that has two opposite second slots 1216.
The rivet 55 extends through a top hole 1210 in a top end of the spring housing 121 and two opposite rivet holes 210 in the sjde tube 20. The bottom protrusion 1212 protrudes downwardly from a bottom of the spring housing 121.
The springpressing block 52 is disposed movably in the ciamber 1215. The positioner-biasing member 51 is disposed in the chamber 1215 and abuts against a top end of the spring-pressing block 52 and a top end of the spring housing 121. The lower end portion 201 of the side tube 20 defines two opposite elongate third slots 202. The positioner 14 defines two opposite circular apertures 141. The spring-pressing black 52 is formed with a channel 521. The connecting shaft 53 extends through the apertures 141 in the pos±tioner 14, the third s1ot 202 in the side tube 20, the second slot 1216 in the spring housing 121, and the channel 521 in the spring-pressing block 52 so as to interconnect arid mount the positioner 14, the spring housing 121 and the spring_pressing block 52 to the side tube 20 and to permit movement of the positioner 14 relative to the side tube and the spring housing 121. The positioner 14 can be moved upwardly along the side tube 20 against the urging action of the Positioner-biasing member 51 so as to disengage from the interconnecting plate 15.
The leg-abutting block 10 has a bottom recess 110 defined by an arc-shaped recess-defining wall 1101. The rear leg 30 has a contact portion 301 received in the bottom recess 110 and conforming to and in contact with the arc-shaped recess-defining wall 1101.
Figs. B and 9 illustrate the second preferred embodiment of an anti-pinch stroller frame assembly Thesecondpreferred embodiment differs from the previous embodiment in the structures of the leg-abutting blocks arid the spring-positioning seats.
In this embodiment, the spring-positioning seat 12 is mounted securely to and extends into the lower end portion 201 of the side tube 20, and has a cap portion 121' that defines a block-accommodating space 1211' therein. The block-accommodating space 1211' opens downwardly. The leg-abuttingblock 10 is movablymounted in the block-accommodating space 1211' . The block-biasing member 122 is mounted in the block-accommodating space 1211' and abuts against the spring-positioning seat 12 and the leg-abutting block so as to constantly urge the leg-abutting block 10 to abut against the rear leg 30, The cap portion 221' of the spring-positioning seat 12 is formed with a top protrusion 1212' protruding into the block-accommodating space 1211' The block-biasing member 122 is in the form of a coil spring having one end sleeved on the top protrusion 1212' and the other end abutting against a top end of the leg-abutting block 10.
The leg-abutting block 10 has a top portion 11' that is formed with an elongate through-hole 1120' The lower end portion 201 of the side tube 20 is formed with two opposite circularpos.itioningholes 212. The capportion 121' of the spring-positioning seat 12 is formed with two opposite circular positioning through-holes 1213' -A connecting pin 41 extends th:rough the positioning holes 212 in the side tube 20, the positioning through-holes 1213' in the cap portion 121' and the elongate through-hole 1120' in the leg-abutting block 10 so as to mount the leg-abutting block 10 to the side tube 20 and the spring-positioning seat 12 and to permit movement of the leg-abutting block 10 relative to the side tube 20, the spring-positioning seat 12 and the connecting pin 41.
The spring-positioning seat 12 further has a rod-like portion 123 that is secured to the side tube 20 and that extends upwardly from the cap portion 121' The positioner-biasing member 51 is sleeved around the rod-like portion 123.
With the inclusion of the resiliently biased leg-abutting blocks 10 in the anti-pinch stroller frame assembly of this invention, the aforesaid drawback
associated with the prior art can be eliminated.
Claims (10)
- CLAIMS: 1. An anti-pinch stroller frame assembly comprising; a handle unit having a side tube that has a lower endportion, saidlowerendportionhavingabottomend; a rear leg unit having a rear leg that is adapted to be connected to a wheel and that is connected to said side tube; and a resiliently biased leg-abutting block mounted movably on said lower end portion of said side tube, protruding outwardly and downwardly from said bottom end of said lower end portion of said side tube, and abutting constantly and resiliently against said rear leg so as to prevent formation of a gap between said leg-abutting block and said rear leg.
- 2. The anti-pinch stroller frame assembly as claimed in claim 1, farther comprising a spring-positioning seat and a block-biasing member, said spring-positioning seat being mounted securely in said lower end portion of said side tube, said block-biasing member being disposed between arid abutting against said spring-positioning seat and said leg-abutting block so as to constantly urge said leg-abutting block to abut against said rear leg.
- 3. The anti-pinch stroller frame assembly as claimed in claim 2, wherein said spring-positioning seat has a bottom protrusion, said leg-abutting block having a hollow top portion that is disposed in said lower end portion of said side tube and that defines a top recess, said block-biasing member being in the form of a coil spring having one end sleeved on said bottom protrusion and the other end received in said top recess.
- 4. The anti-pinch stroller frame assembly as claimed in claim 3, further comprising a connecting pin, said top portion of said leg-abutting block being formed with twooppositeelongatefirst slots, saidlowerendportion of said side tube being formed with two opposite positioning holes, said connecting pin extending through said positioning holes and said first slots so as to mount said leg-abutting block to said side tube and to permit movement of said leg-abutting block relative to said side tube and said connecting Pin.
- 5. The anti-pinch stroller frame assembly as claimed inclaim 4, further comprising a positioner-biasing member, an interconnecting plate connected to said rear leg, and a positioner mounted movably on said lower end portion of said side tube and urged by said positioner-biasing member to engage releasably said interconnecting plate, said spring-positioning seat further having a spring housing that is secured to said.side tube andthat defines a chamber therein, sa±dbottom protrusion protruding downwardly from a bottom of said spring housing, said positioner-biasing member being mounted in said chamber.
- 6. The anti-pinch stroller frame assembly as claimed in claim 1, further comprising a spring-positioning Seat and a block-biasing member, said spring-positioning seat being mounted securely to and extending into said lower end portion of said side tube, and having a cap S portion that defines a block-accommodating space therein, said block-accommodating space opening downwardly, said leg-abutting block being movably mounted in said block-accomi-nodating space, said block-biasing member being mounted in said block-accommodating space and abutting against said spring-positioning seat and said leg-abutting block so as to constantly urge said leg-abutting block to abut against said rear leg.
- 7. The anti-pinch stroller frame assembly as claimed in claim 6, wherein said cap portion of said spring-positioning seat is formed with a top protrusion protruding into said block-accommodating space, said block-biasing member being in the form of a coil spring having one end sleeved on said top protrusion and the other block.
- 8. The anti-pinch stroller frame assembly as claimed in claim 6, wherein further comprising a connecting pin, said leg-abutting block having a top portion that is formed with an elongate through-hole, said lower end portion of said side tube being formed with two opposite positioning holes, said cap portion of said spring-positioning seat being formed with two opposite positioning through-holes, said connecting pin extending through said positioning holes in said side tube, said positioning through-holes in said cap portion and said elongate through-hole in said leg-abutting block so as to mount said leg-abutting block to said side tube and said spring-positioning seat and to permit movement of said leg-abutting block relative to said side tube, said spring-positioning seat and said connecting pin.
- 9. The anti-pinch stroller frame assembly as claimed in claim 6, further comprising a positioner-biasing member, an interconnecting plate connected to said rear leg, and a positioner mounted movably on said lower end portion of said side tube and urged by said positioner-biasing member to engage releasably said interconnecting plate, said spring-positioning seat further having a rod-like portion that is secured to said side tube and that extends upwardly from said cap portion, said positioner-biasing member being sleeved around said rod-like portion.
- 10. An anti-pinch stroller frame substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to and as illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
