Abstract

The spigot A is attached to the tap and meets the thread B at point C. This makes the tap compatible with push fit connector or a speed fit connector as a means of connecting the tap to a water supply.

Description of Modified Tap
When a standard tap with a thread is fitted to bath, basin etc. it is usually connected to the water supply with a tap connector, which very often results in a leak. This is due to cross threading or poorly seated seals and washers. It also can be time consuming and difficult.
To overcome this problem, the idea of a spigot attached to the tap below the thread enables the person to connect a push fit or speed fit connector to the spigot. This reduces time and is less prone to leaks, therefore making plumbing quick and more reliable.
This spigot can be adapted to commercial and domestic taps.
There are several methods in which the spigot could be attached. The thread and spigot can be turned in one piece from brass. Alternatively, copper tube soldered to the thread to act as the spigot. Or moulded in plastic as an entire piece.
Figure 1 This drawing shows a tap with a thread and a spigot attached underneath.
A. A spigot attached to a tap thread for easy connection to supply.
B. Thread attaches taps to unit.
C. The meeting point of the thread and spigot.
Figure 2 Shows the thread and spigot cut away from body of the tap, before it is attached to the body.
Figure 3 Shows tap attached to unit with a nut.
Figure. 4 Shows tap connected to the water supply with a push fit connector attached to the spigot.
D. Push fit connector connected to the spigot on tap.
Claims A tap modification with a spigot that compatible with a push fit or speed fit connector instead of the conventional tap with the thread alone.
