Abstract

248,179. Tatham, Ltd., W., and Berry, R. I. March 5, 1925. Fibres, batching and lubricating.-Hard fibrous waste as it leaves a breaking-up or opening machine is treated with a soapy liquid on both sides of the fleece by means of rotary liquid distributing means. The fleece f travelling up the lattice L is treated on its upper side by a brush a and a roller b dipping into a trough d. As the fleece falls from the lattice it is treated on its under side by an auxiliary rotary device comprising a brush 3 and a roller 2 dipping into a trough 1. The trough is carried by brackets 4 on the lattice frame and the brush 3 is mounted in pivoted adjustable arms 5. A splash guard 8 with sidepieces is provided. Both the troughs d, 1 may be supplied from a reservoir t by a pipe 9.
