Abstract

An infant sleeping bag comprises a core outer layer 4 and a releasably attachable inner layer 6, the releasably attachable inner layer being chosen from a selection of said layers having different thermal resistance or tog ratings. The releasably attachable inner layers 6 allow the sleeping bag to exhibit a range of tog ratings, with omission of the inner layer allowing a lower overall tog rating and inclusion of a highly thermal insulating inner layer allowing a higher overall tog rating. The inner layer 6 may attach to the outer layer 4 via fastenings 3. The outer layer 4 includes fasteners 2 and zip 1 for securing the bag to an infant. A releasably attachable inner sheet 7 may be provided, which may attach to the outer layer 4 via fastenings 3, or may attach to the inner layer 6 via fastenings (8, fig. 4). Use of the releasably attachable inner sheet 7 is intended to assist in preventing soiling of the outer cover 4 or, if present, the inner layer 6.

Description

Infant sleeping bag This invention relates to a baby sleeping bag which can be adjusted to various tog ratings allowing for changes in temperature.
Small infants are not efficient at controlling their body temperature. It's important for infants to avoid getting too hot as overheating is known to be a factor of cot death. Therefore it's important to ensure infants are dressed appropriately to maintain the right temperature while sleeping. Baby sleeping bags are currently available to buy at specific tog ratings however multiple sleeping bags have to be bought to cater for changing temperatures throughout the year.
To overcome this problem the present invention proposes to develop a sleeping bag for infants that has the flexibility to change tog rating therefore eliminating the need to buy multiple separate sleeping bags of specific tog ratings.
The multi tog sleeping bag will consist of a core outer layer which can be used stand alone or in conjunction with optional inner layers of varying tog levels. An optional inner sheet can also be attached to either the core outer layer or the optional inner layers for ease of cleaning. The core outer layer will be secured around the infant by fasteners. The ability to vary the tog rating of the optional inner layers with the core outer layer ensures the sleeping bag can be adjusted to cater for changing temperatures.
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 -shows the external view of the core outer layer of the multi tog sleeping bag Figure 2 -shows the internal view of the core outer layer of the multi tog sleeping bag Figure 3 -shows the external view of an optional inner layer of the multi tog sleeping bag Figure 4 -shows the internal view of an optional inner layer of the multi tog sleeping bag Figure -shows the optional inner sheet The optional inner lining (6) is attached to the core outer layer of the multi tog sleeping bag (4) using fastenings (3). The core outer layer (4) has fastenings (2) and zip (1) to securely close the sleeping bag around the infant. The optional inner sheet (7) can be fastened using (3) to the core outer layer (4) or fastened using (8) to an optional inner layer (6) of the multi tog sleeping bag.

Claims (3)

  1. Claims 1. A multi tog sleeping bag which consists of a core outer layer with optional interchangeable inner layers of varying tog rating.
  2. 2. A multi tog sleeping bag according to claim 1, where the optional inner layers of varying tog ratings are securely fastened to the core outer layer by the use of fastenings.
  3. 3. A multi tog sleeping bag according to claim 1, where an optional inner sheet can be attached to either the core outer layer or the optional inner layer for ease of cleaning.
