Abstract

A sensor or sensors of relevant shape and size, fixed to or fitted to a digital camera as part of that digital camera which detect motion and activate or operate the mechanism of the camera allowing a picture to be taken of the moving object without the necessity of a camera operator being present. The motion sensor may be of the ultrasonic, infrared, or laser types. The camera incorporating a motion sensor may be used for photographing birds or animals.

Description

Digital Camera Motion Capture (DCMC) This invention relates to a motion sensor or sensors, or device, which is fitted to a digital camera as part of that digital camera and which activates or operates the camera when motion is detected. For example should a user wish to photograph a moving object such as, but not exclusively, a bird or animal and does not wish to wait for the arrival of said bird or animal, the camera mode (for example) could be set to a motion setting (for example) and the camera would be activated when the bird or animal was detected and a picture taken.
The sensor could be an infrared type or an ultrasonic type or a capacitive type or a laser type or any other type of sensor capable of detecting motion. The motion detecting sensor or sensors would be mounted on or in the housing of the digital camera that is usually, but not exclusively, on the front, side, top or bottom of the housing of the digital camera.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: FIGURE 1 Shows a drawing representing a digital camera and showing an example of the position of the motion detecting sensor or sensors.
FIGURE 2 Shows a drawing representing the side view of a digital camera showing an example of the position of the motion detecting sensor or sensors. There is also a representation of the sensing field projected from the motion detecting sensor or sensors and a representation of a moving object.
As shown in Figure 1, the motion detecting sensor or sensors (1) are mounted on for example the front of the digital camera housing (2) Figure 2 shows the motion detecting sensor or sensors (1) are mounted on, for example, the front of the digital camera housing (2) The representation of the sensing field (3) is shown, as is a representation of a moving object (4)
