Abstract
A razor comprises single or multiple blades 1 that are inclined at any angle greater or less than 90 degrees to the cutting direction 4. The razor may use curved or shaped blades to achieve the cutting angle. The razor may include holes 5 at the edges of the inclined blades to allow egress of cut hair. The razor may achieve the cutting angle of the blades 1 by offsetting the angle of the handle 3 greater or less than 90 degrees to the head 2 or cutting blades 1.
Description
Shaving Razor This invention relates to a razor for shaving.
When shaving, razors can puU at longer hair and are notorious for causing shaving rash and discomfort during shaving. Cutting blades on razors are also prone to being clogged by cut hair. In existing conventional razors, the razor blade or blades are orientated perpendicular to the cutting direction which is determined by the orientation of the handle and head of the razor. This can result in pulling, especially when the cutting edge of the blade becomes blunt.
To overcome this, the present invention proposes changing the orientation of a single blade or multiple blades relative to the cutting direction to induce more of a slicing action whilst shaving -to reduce pulling and improve shaving comfort. This will be achieved by inclining a single cutting blade or multiple cutting blades at any angle greater or less than 90 degrees to the cutting direction, or by using curved or shaped blades.
The invention will now be described by way of an example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows a front elevation of an existing conventional razor with the cutting blades orientated perpendicular to the cutting direction.
Figure 2 Shows the side elevation of a razor.
Figure 3 shows a razor with an arrangement of multiple cutting blades inclined at an angle greater than 90 degrees relative to the cutting direction according to the invention.
Figure 4 shows a razor with an alternative blade arrangement using a single razor blade inclined at an angle greater than 90 degrees to the cutting direction.
Figure 5 shows a razor with an alternative cutting arrangement using curved blades.
Figure 6 shows holes at the edge of the razor blades to assist with the egress of cut hair.
In figure 3, the blades of the razor 1 are at any angle greater or less than 90 degrees to the cutting direction 4. By inclining the blades in this way, more of a slicing action is achieved reducing puUing and improving shaving comfort. This diagram demonstrates the use of multiple blades.
Figure 4 shows an alternative embodiment with a single blade 1 inclined at an angle greater than 90 degrees to the cutting direction 4.
Figure 5 shows an alternative embodiment in which the razor blades I are curved to provide a cutting angle greater than 90 degrees to the direction of cut 4.
Because the blades are set at an inclined angle, cut hair is more likely to be pushed along the length of the blade during the shaving stroke. Figure 6 shows holes 5 at the edge of the razor which allow easy egress of cut hair which may be pushed along the length of the cutting blades I. The razor can be disposable which is discarded after the blades become blunt or reusable where by the blades or head of the razor are changed.
Claims (4)
- Claims I A razor in which single or multiple blades are incned at any angle greater or less than degrees to the cutting direction.
- 2 A razor according to daim 1, in which the cutting angle is achieved using curved or shaped blades.
- 3 A razor according to any of the proceeding claims where a hole or vent is provided at the edges of the razor blades to assists with the egress of cut hair.
- 4 A razor according to any of the proceeding claims where the razor is disposable.A razor according to any of the proceeding claims where the razor is reusable by changing the razor head or cutting blades.
