Abstract

A louvre window has a connection part 19 comprising a shaft 21 which is connected to a slat drive and is rotatably mounted in the outer frame 4 of the louvre window. A journal 29 is fitted on the connection part 19 at right angles to the axis of rotation of the slat and has a projection 23 which is encompassed by a recess 15 of a receiving means 13 fitted into a recess 30 on the slat 5. The receiving means 13 is detachable from the slat 5. Preferably the journal 29 has a recess 24 which engages with a lug 14 on the side part of the receiving means 13. A limit stop 22 can be provided to prevent the receiving means sliding off the connection part. Using this method, the slats or louvres 5 can be removed from the louvre window thus allowing them to be replaced.

Description

Louvre Window The invention relates to louvre window having an outer frame in which a large number of slats, disposed one above the other, are mounted rotatably horizontally and all the slats are connected to each other by an adjustment mechanism such that these can be brought back together from a closed position into an open position, all the slats forming a closed surface on the outside of the building in the closed position, from which they can be pivoted out by the adjustment mechanism, both the outer frame and the slats having a frame which consists respectively of one or more metal profiles, each slat is thereby retained on both sides respectively by a bearing journal which is connected to the adjustment mechanism and has a mounting part for receiving the slat.
Such a louvre window is known for example from EP 0 477 955 A2. In this publication, a louvre window is described, in which the bearing journal connected to the adjustment mechanism is provided with a receiving means in the form of a U-shaped mounting part into which the slat can be inserted in the open state of the louvre window. Further details relating to measures for producing a stable and detachable connection between bearing journal and slat cannot be deduced from the mentioned publication.
The object of the invention now resides in configuring a louvre window of the initially mentioned type in such a manner that, on the one hand, easy exchangeability of the slat is provided and, on the other hand, a more secure and detachable connection between the bearing journal and the slat is ensured.
This object is achieved in that a connection part connected to the slat drive has a shaft mounted in the outer frame and a journal fitted at right angles to the axis of rotation, which journal is encompassed by a receiving means which is fitted on the slat in the region of the axis of rotation and is fitted in a recess which extends over the entire length of the left and right side part of the slat, a secure and detachable connection between receiving means and slat being possible by suitable means.
The connection part is thereby configured such that, in the open position of the louvre window, the slat can be pushed with its receiving means onto the journal of the connection part or removed from the journal. Since shaft and journal are securely connected to the connection part, the lateral mounting of the slat is not changed when exchanging a slat.
Due to the invention, the assembly of such a louvre window can also be facilitated since the slats can be inserted only after incorporation of the outer frame into the window opening of a building in said frame.
Further advantages are produced by the sub-claims.
The invention is explained in more detail with reference to an embodiment. There are shown: Fig. 1 the front view of a louvre window, Fig, 2 the connection part in the view from the side, from the front and from above, Fig. 3 a section through the left side part of the louvre frame, Fig. 4 a section through the left side part of the outer frame and a section through a slat in the closed state of the louvre window and Fig. 5 a perspective view of the connection part.
A louvre window according to Fig. 1 has an outer frame which consists of an upper 1, a lower 2, a left 3 and a right side part 4. In the outer frame, a large number of slats 5 are mounted rotatably, each slat being pivotable about an axis of rotation 10 and all the slats being brought into an open position by corresponding means accommodated together in the region of the outer frame from a closed position in which all the slats form a closed surface, the final position being able to be 90 degrees and even more relative to the closed position. The individual slats consist respectively of a single-or multilayer glass plate (for example insulating glass) which are encompassed on all sides by an upper 8, a lower 9, a left 6 and a right side part 7, the drive, not shown in more detail, which is situated in the outer frame being connected securely respectively to the left 6 and/or the right side part 7 of the slat 5. The upper 8 and the lower side part 9 need not therefore definitely be present. It is assumed in the embodiment that the axis of rotation 10 is identical to the axis of symmetry of the slat 5. The innovation however can also be applied to louvre windows in which the slats 5 are configured such that the axis of rotation 10 extends outside the axis of symmetry of the slat. The mentioned side parts of the outer frame and of the slat are preferably produced as extruded profile parts made of aluminium. The further sealing of the slats to each other or between the adjacent slats 5 and the upper I and the lower side part 2 of the outer frame is not dealt with further within the scope of this description since this is not the subject of the invention.
The connection part 19 shown in Fig. 2 has two attachments 20 which are offset diagonally relative to each other and provided at the same spacing, said attachments being fitted above or below the axis of rotation 10. The attachments 20 serve for connecting the slat drive 11 (Fig. 4). Furthermore, the connection part 19 consists of a shaft 21 in the form of a round cylinder. On the side situated opposite the attachments 20, a journal 29, which is provided with two oppositely-situated long projections 23 and long recesses 24 disposed parallel thereto, is situated on said cylinder, the projections 23 and recesses 24 extending at right angles to the axis of rotation 10. Shaft 21, journal 29 and the connection for the slat drive of the connection part 19 can be configured in one piece. Expediently, the connection part 19 is produced as a cast part for example made of aluminium.
In the left side frame 6 and in the right side frame 7 of the slat 5, a continuous recess 30 is present, which is provided in the region of the axis of rotation 10 with recesses 16 into which a receiving means 13 which can be mounted by screws 17 can be introduced, said receiving means having a recess 15 and respectively two oppositely-situated lugs 14 and half borings 18 (Fig. 3).
The connection part 19 is mounted with its shaft 21 in a bearing part 31 which is inserted into the left 3 and the right side part 4 of the outer frame and has a corresponding bearing 27, which shaft seals the left side part 4 of the outer frame on the side orientated towards the slat 5 (Fig. 4). The slat drive 11 consists of two parallel-disposed connection rods which are fitted moveably on the attachments 20 (Fig. I and 5) and the opening and closing of the louvre window 5 is effected by their contrarotating movement. In order to seal the intermediate space between the outer frame and the slat 5, elastic sealing lips 12 are fitted on the right 3 and on the left side part 4 of the outer frame.
The journal 29 is encompassed by the receiving means 13 (Fig. 3), the lug 14 thereof being situated in the recess 24 of the connection part 19 and the projection 23 of the journal 29 being encompassed by the recess 15 of the receiving means 13. As soon as the slat 5 is pushed with its receiving means 13 up to the limit stop 22 of the journal 29 onto the connection part 19, the stat 5 has reached its end position, i.e. the axis of rotation 10 thereof coincides with the axis of rotation of the shaft 21 of the connection part 19. In order to establish the final position of the slat 5 between receiving means 13 and journal 29, a guide pin 26 is situated thereon with a bevel 32. In the inserted state of the slat 5, a complete boring is produced by the half boring 18 of the receiving means 13 and the half boring 25 of the connection part 19. Into this boring, a screw 28, for example with a self-cutting thread, can now be inserted. In this way, a secure and detachable connection between the connection part 19 and the slat 5 is produced.
Insertion of a slat 5 into the outer frame takes place in such a manner that firstly the slat drive 11 is adjusted such that the latter is located in the position of the wide-open louvre window, in which the journal 29 assumes a horizontal position. Subsequently, the slat 5 with its receiving means 13 is pushed parallel through the recess 30 which extends over the entire length of the left 6 and of the right side part 7 of the slat 5, the journal 29 being guided smoothly in the recess 30 and the receiving means 13 with its lug 14 impinging on the journal 29 and furthermore until the receiving means 13 abuts against the limit stop 22 of the respective connection part 19. Now the connection between connection part 19 and slat 5 can be fixed by inserting two screws 28. Removal of a slat 5 in the open state of the louvre window takes place in reverse. Firstly, the screw connection is undone and subsequently the slat 5 can be pulled down parallel from both journals 29 of both connection parts 19 of the left 3 and of the right side part 4 of the outer frame.
By using the connection part 19 according to the invention in conjunction with the removable bearing part 31, access to the slat drive 11 in the outer frame of the louvre window is possible in a simple manner after the already described removal of the slat 5.
