Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for managing the supply of energy to remote devices, such as recharging mobile phones 101. An energy supply control apparatus 102 in addition to a management system 103, 105 manages and authenticates account information of remote devices 101. A method for managing the supply of energy to a device 101, comprises authenticating a billing account associated with a device 101 to be supplied with energy by sending an authentication request message to an authentication processing unit over a network 104 and controlling the supply of energy to the device 101 responsive to receipt of an authentication response message from the authentication processing unit. The energy usage of the device 101 is then monitored and billing information associated with the energy usage of the device 101 is transferred to a billing processing unit over the network 104 to update the billing account.
