Abstract
247,781. Corfield, F. S. April 9, 1925. Anti-dazzle screens for drivers.- An anti-dazzle screen for protecting the driver of a vehicle comprises a relatively narrow slip blind mounted on the wind-screen in such a manner that it may, against the power of a spring, be slowly drawn down the screen so as contilnuously to interrupt the relatively moving glare, while at the same time allowing the driver a sufficient view of the road. In the construction shown the blind t is carried by a ball-bearing runner-block k slidable vertically within a vertical tube b and operated against the action of a spring l by the pull on a Bowden cable n connected through a sheath o with a. finger on the steering-wheel. The blind shown consists of three metallic leaves u, v, w having interposed leaf springs 8, z and connected by pins 10 and slots 11 so that the blind is extended to its full width when pulled downwardly, the lowest member u being carried by the block k and made of channel section so as to receive the other members v, w when the blind is in its uppermost or collapsed position. An horizontal bracket d formed integral with the tube b serves for attaching the blind to the upper edge of and either in front of or behind the wind-screen a, the former position being adopted when a screen-wiping flap x is attached to the member u. An additional guide 12 may be arranged at the free edges of the leaves of the blind. The blind may alternatively consist of a single fabric strip adapted to wind by tapes upon a spring roller.
