Abstract

A water-fed pole system for cleaning windows comprises a water supply hose which enters the interior of the pole through a side of the base cap rather than from the bottom. This arrangement reduces wear on the hose and increase stability of the pole when the pole is resting on the ground.

Description

Side Entry Base Cap for Water-Fed Pole Systems
Description
Whilst using a water-fed pole system, I noticed that the hose feeding the water to the pole was becoming worn at the base. I realised that this was because the hose actually comes out of the bottom of the pole, and so any time I rested the pole, the weight of the pole was pressing on to the water hose. I searched for a product to resolve this problem, but could not find anything that would do so.
I, therefore, designed a base cap for water-fed poles to enable the hose to be fed to the pole from the side instead of from the bottom of the pole.
The base cap is designed to be fitted to poles at the time of manufacture but can be retro fitted to any water fed pole, and is produced in various sizes so that all poles can be adapted.
Base caps which are already available to the water-fed pole industry, are fitted to poles in order to both protect the bottom of the pole and to offer a level of protection to the hose. However, no base caps incorporate a side entry design. This patent request refers to a base cap with a side hose entry/exit.
Key Features * Reduces wear and tear on water fed pole hoses as well as the pole itself * Eases the extension and shortening of pole systems.
* Reduces water pressure problems, as the pole is never rested on the water hose.
With poles using the existing base cap designs, it is extremely easy to damage the hose used to feed water to the brush head, and once the hose is punctured or torn, either the whole hose must be replaced, or it must be repaired with a joint, creating more of a problem in the hose at a point which has already proved itself to be a likely trouble spot. The side entry base cap alleviates this problem.
In addition, in order to extend or shorten poles without a side entry base cap, the pole must be lifted off the ground to avoid trapping the hose so that it is free to move up and down. Whereas, with the side entry base cap, the pole can be stood on the foot of the base cap, and the hose is still completely free to move up and down.
S..... . . . . . . e. On occasion where the pole is stood upright, with existing designs, the full weight of the pole rests : on the hose, unnecessarily increasing wear and tear, and in some instances completely trapping * the hose, thus stopping the flow of water and creating water pressure problems elsewhere in the * system. With the side entry design, the pole can be stood upright with the full weight of the pole on .:.. the base cap but with no weight whatsoever on the hose. Also, as the water hose is not going through the bottom of the base cap, the base can be made at an angle to increase stability when the pole is being stored, or being rested in between uses.
The base cap is to be manufactured from a durable plastic/rubber or cast from a suitable metal. *. S S *
S
Text to accompany amended drawings: The base cap attaches to the consumer's water fed pole. As the water hose comes out through the side entry, the weight of the pole is never rested on it, instantly reducing wear, and water pressure problems within the system.
As the hose does not pass through the bottom of the base, the stability is not compromised, and the design of the foot can be focused purely on supporting and protecting the pole.
Both fig 1. And fig 2. Show the side entiy base cap attached to the water fed pole with the water hose running through the side entry.
