Abstract

A thumb push brake lever is activated with the thumb of an individual while still retaining a four finger grip on the bars. This avoids having to take one, or both of the hand's strongest fingers, off the bars of the bike in order to use the brake. The Thumb push brake is activated with the thumb of an individual while still retaining a four-finger grip on the bars. The brake lever may be adapted to actuate cable or hydraulic brakes. partaking in fast or arduous riding any rider would benefit from maximum interface between grip and bars. It increases control and efficiency whilst also reducing fatigue in the hands and fingers, When executing many aerial tricks, traditional levers get in the way. When racing, riders need maximum control and grip. The Thumb Brake Lever solves all these problems.

Description
The bicycle thumb brake lever is a handlebar mounted brake lever that hangs under the handlebars and is activated with the user's thumbs. The lever either pulls a standard brake cable or pushes standard hydraulic fluid to activate the bike's brake.
This lever solves the issue of having to remove fingers from the bike to activate the stopping system. It makes it safer and more efficient, allowing greater control of the bike.
The thumb push brake is activated with the thumb of an individual and the thumb's movement is minimal while still retaining a four-finger grip on the bars.
The pictured prototype (Figures. A & B) was produced to make a working example and is currently a cable-operated system. Drawings of its basic workings can also be seen. (Figures. C & D) It is also an hydraulically operated system. (Figures. E & F)
